America would have been better off without Reagan..
My new slogan for all conservatives I run into. 30 years of failed conservative economic policies got us to this point in our history and we'd are not better off than before Reagan and his so called revolution..

Who's with me?

1. Oh, I agree.
The problem is that the 'cans and cons have been working for years to deify Reagan and rewrite history.

5. Understatement of the century
As an avid Thom Hartmann listener, I tell people every day to look around and enjoy the fruits of 30 years of Reaganomics.

6. The boomers who liked Reagan are getting older. I am 34 and was a kid when Reagan was President.
Gen Y never knew who he was. The worshipping of Reagan by those that have the most power will lessen with time.

8. Reagan was perfect...
...as an example of what happens when you let a likable idiot run a major country.

16. Finally a post DU can agree on
I think you're right. That was when we started taking steps backwards on the social contract.

Trying to reinvent the 50s or the 19th century rather than going into the 80s.

18. I think if Jimmy Carter had had a second term, we would see a much gentler, more tolerant
brand of Christianity in this country.

The Jerry Falwells, the Jimmy Swaggarts, and all of the other We-Hate-Everybody demi-cults would not have got the political foothold that they were handed under Reagan. They would still be in the tall grass where they belong.
