Politics hasn't really changed in 2000 years
They only assassinate you in a different way.

Today is the day that Julius Caesar was murdered. "Beware the Ides of March" spake the warning to him in Shakespeare's play. He was 55 when he was assassinated. History says that the line of "Et tu, Brute?" was never really spoken. The physician, after examination of the corpse, said that only the 2nd, out of 23 stab wounds, was lethal.

1. The beauty of Shakespeare...
Human nature hadn't changed in 1600 years when he wrote "Julius Caesar," and it hasn't changed in the 400 years since then.

"For who would bare the whips and scorns of time, to oppressor's wrong, the proud man's contumely, the pangs of disprized love, the law's delay, the insolence of office, and the spurns that patient merit of the unworthy takes..."

For understanding current events, I recommend "Titus Andronicus," which some say was written in Shakespeare's Quentin Tarantino phase.

4. Caesar's actual last words were comprised of only three letters
W T and F.

Thanks for the thread, hyphenate.:)

5. You are very welcome!
I can only say that too many nowadays in politics would ever take the message and lesson of JC seriously enough. Too bad. While the assassination might only be figurative at present, the potential exists for it to be far more permanent than a physical death!
