Big Ed to Bernie Sanders:"Is there enough good in this bill to for the Democrats to pass HCR as is?"
Edited on Mon Mar-15-10 05:11 PM by berni_mccoy
Bernie: "The answer is YES, and the answer is the day after it's passed, we gotta go back and make it stronger."

That's all there is folks. That's it in a nutshell. Pass it. Sanders even said it would be immoral to not pass it.

Just now on Big Ed.

Bernie also said "Doing Nothing Is Not An Option."

5. I love DK, but even I would never do that.
Sanders is the real deal, and one of few I take seriously these days.

11. There was a good point on Ed's show
Edited on Mon Mar-15-10 05:22 PM by mvd
How about a vote on the PO if we are to vote yes? Also, I'm sure Sanders will keep fighting. But will our leaders listen? Progressives have gotten nothing in the health care debate, while moderates get everything they demand. And that's why I'm so reluctant in my support. :hi:

4. Now, Ed is having a segment showing how the Public Option has the votes in the Senate...
...and how the president made a deal with the industry not to have a P.O.

It's disgusting that we have to capitulate to big insurance.

19. It's an ad showing the faces and statements of Senators supporting the PO
They call it the Whip Congress ad by the advocacy group, Progressive Change Campaign Committee. http://whipcongress.com/

Video from one of Ed's programs where he discusses the issue with the spokesman.

18. They always do this. They'll be all for the Public Option until it's time to
actually vote for it. Then there'll be some reason why there won't be a vote. The corporate wing of the Democratic party is very good at being for progressive ideas so long as there's no chance in hell of it actually passing.

9. the day after it's passed, we gotta go back and make it stronger
Sounds good, but if theres no will to make it a good bill in the first place I doubt there will be the will to improve it later.

Sounds like a sales pitch to sell the current bill, not an actual plan we can count on later.

that's the exact point that never seems to get addressed. How? How will this be made better if we can't do it now?

25. Yeah, like it's going to get a whole lot easier after we lose a bunch of seats
in November.

That's not pessimism. That's history.

Pessimism would be if I said we're gonna lose both majorities.

14. The professional political class is going all in
And you know what? They have to at this point. For the bill to go down in flames after the party pissed away an entire year on it in the midst of the greatest economic collapse since the Great Depression would be catastrophic for the politicians.

They know this.

Bernie and others are going for the lesser evil at this point, from their point of view.

Still evil, though.

(And, since I'm not a Republican, I'm not entirely sure what these repeated appeals to authority are meant to accomplish. Some of us have our own minds, independent of political personalities. Shocking, but true).

17. In the interest of full disclosure, Bernie's also said that this current
bill is a LONG WAY from perfect, and fully admits this doesn't even come close to what he considers ideal.

23. again? Big Ed was a Republican when I was marching in the streets
doing my best to fight this very situation. And he was duped into backing the Republican agenda. He's duped again. Big Ed is new to the game. I respect him and appreciate him, and always listen and watch. I understand Sanders too, I feel the same EXCEPT- we need to push until the fat lady sings or we will get reamed.

Why the !FUCK! do liberals negotiate with their nuts tucked & shivering in a puddle of piss in the corner??????????????

Go to the zoo if you need to commune in bipartisanship you "Democrats". TIP: The ape house would yield better results than the reptile house. FWIW
