Catholic Bishops Oppose HCR Bill
http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/86877-bishops-oppose-healthcare-bill

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops confirmed its opposition today to the healthcare reform bill making it's way through the House, arguing it's too lenient on abortion.

"The American people and the Catholic bishops have been promised that, in any final bill, no federal funds would be used for abortion and that the legal status quo would be respected," said Cardinal Francis George, USCCB president.

"However, the bishops were left disappointed and puzzled to learn that the basis for any vote on health care will be the Senate bill passed on Christmas Eve," he added.

I wonder if this is why Kucinich is the only member of the Progressive Caucus against it. He's Catholic and he was anti-abortion before running for President.

16. We could do this all day. Obama hasn't backed gay marriage.
Glen Beck doesn't back gay marriage. Obama must agree with Glen Beck! He's not anti-marriage!

Seriously, we should be better than that.

7. Shouldn't they be focusing...
on the fact that their Pope is okay with pedophile priests?

That's right, who gives a crap once they've been born.

12. Those complicit in the institutional rape of children should STFU...
...and be glad the U.S. Attorney has not brought RICO charges against the R.C. church as a criminal organization on that basis.

And before you delete me, am I wrong? Is there any basis for supposing it has stopped? I'm only talking about the institution here.

20. Church hierarchy is determined to prove its irrelevancy
and has for many years. Every time those celibate old boys start pointing their fingers at women and thundering about things they have absolutely no knowledge of, it's a miracle the faithful don't just get up and walk out.

Those old men oversaw the institutionalized buggery of children for decades, centuries if you count girl children. They have absolutely no moral high ground on which to stand.

Most Catholics are sensible people who use both birth control and abortion services when necessary and know the Bishops are talking through their silly hats.

The only wonder is that this hierarchy keeps being supported in any way at all, all the way up to useless at best and criminal at worst Rome.

It would be great to see Catholics take their church back from the corrupt men clinging to the vestiges of the Roman Empire.

Of course, I say the same thing about all the temples, churches, and mosques.

22. "it's a miracle the faithful don't just get up and walk out"
I would say it's the opposite of a miracle. Anyone who stays and supports those bastards is committing a grave sin.
