i saw in one article they were talking about it, and its more common than you think, one bird gets spooked and changes direction effecting the whole flock and some fly into something. :shrug:

From the injuries they suffered, it is clear a bunch of them flew into something and sustained significant injuries. Probably a tower or building nearby.
