Could some Democrats be on the DC Madam's "list"?
Edited on Mon Apr-30-07 12:10 PM by bluestateguy
I want to caution everyone to not assume that all the names will be from the Republic Party. You mark my words, if just one Democrat is named for 50 Republicans, the Republic Noise Machine will be trumping the "everybody does it" defense.

16. But Repugs were in control of Congress
They didn't try to stop it.

At least now with a Democratic controlled Congress their is an attempt to stop it. So it must had been the Repugs fault before 2007.

5. no, it will be about the individual
Its not about party. THere will be repubs who preach moral values whose names aren't on the list. And there may be Democrats who pose for nice family photos at election time whose names are on the list. The public will punish the individual hypocrisy, not the party.

Oh, they will do it anyway. I'm sure there will be some Dems on that list, but they aren't typically running around telling everyone they should be as moral as they are.

Monica Goodling a proud client

Fred Garvin: May I come in?

Ms Goodling: What for?

Fred Garvin: Well, ma'am, you see, when an attorney like yourself comes to DC to do business in the Justice Department, it's customary for the company to send a gal up to the room, compliments of Great Lakes Feed & Grain. And, well.. since you're a gal, the company sent me - Fred Garvin, Male Prostitute.

But the Dems are not screaming at the top of their lungs about how "morally" superior and holier than thou they are.

21. Well
I don't think there is anything evil about being a hooker or about going to a hooker. The problem is, the Republithugs go around preaching "family values". (*snort*..like "hate", "racism", "xenophobia", etc...) so I love it when THEY are caught with their pants down around their ankles. LOVE IT. I just hope there are more Republicans than Democrats on the list.

24. You get it
It's about the hypocrisy not the act.

I had a conversation with a neighbor a few weeks ago who said he supported the morality of the Republicans over the Democrats. I told him that to me it appeared the Republicans were better at wrapping morality around them as a protective cloak to hide their immoral acts, but when their actual actions were taken into account they were no more moral and even in many ways more immoral than Democrats as a whole.

The more people are exposed to the hypocrisy of the "moral right" the better.

22. Yes, but their social policy usually isn't hypocritical
The people pumping the "dems do it, too" plank sometimes miss that point -- the issue is not sexual behavior (That's no one's
business). The issue is hypocrisy. I don't care if somebody with a rational concept of human behavior is on a call girl's list.
I do care if the list contains some Pat Robertson piglet who tries to preach to the rest of us what to do with our bodies.

29. I'd be very surprised if there is not a Democrat or two on her list
On the other hand, in the general list of the groups of people which made up the DC Madam the DC Madam's clientele, one has been conspiciously missing at least so far: members of Congress. This is the one group in DC that one would be most likely to find a remotely powerful Democrat over the last several years.

Vice doesn't have an ideology. Bill Clinton had his vices, and so did Warren G. Harding. Tom DeLay is a crook, and so was Dan Rostenkowski.

In the great scheme of things, no one but ranking officials in the Bush regime took the nation to war on facts so systematically fabricated and distorted, not even LBJ with the Gulf of Tonkin incident. Now, there's a scandal.

30. Keep in mind that the list goes back well into the Clinton years
For example, a page from the "madam's" phone bill has been posted -- take a look at the date: August 1996 --

So I'm not sure that COngress is the only potential source of a powerful Democrat appearing on the list.

31. Good point.
A power lawyer is just as likely to be a Democrat as a Republican. Until the K Street project kicked in, so was a lobbyist.

One nice thing about the K Street project is that it kept the Democrats out of mischief.
