$400,000 bonus for Wolfowitz?
What is up with these bonuses? Wolfie is in line for a $400,000 bonus for perfomance and time on the job if he stays by June 1. Apparently, he's making it a bartering chip for his resignation.

Let's stop a minute. Who here gets bonuses at their work? What kind of work do you do and how often do those bonuses opportunites come by a year?

11. Programming, typically from 9 am to 10pm 6 days a week
sometimes later. Hell, I earned the damn thing anyway, if I was on an hourly raise the over-time would have probably been much more.

13. I can see that. You definitely get paid based on what you produce
and, I'm assuming quality counts.

6. What kind of corporation is the IMF where Wolfie works.
I hate to admit it, but I don't know if it's governmental or private corporation. And if it's private, is it a for profit organization, or non-profit?

14. He's with the World Bank, not IMF
It's a multi-national banking body which loans money to third-world countries, purportedly for 'development'. And yes, it is FOR PROFIT, it's not a charity.

7. I work for the federal government
and last year, they completely revamped our employee appraisal system.

Whereas the average payout for managers was in the 2K range, and about $1600 for regular employees, those amounts have now been reduced severely.

"exceptional" employees get either 4% or their annual pay and/or time off.

"fully sucessful" employees not get either 2% of their annual salary and/or time off.

10. Well, I'm glad they do have incentives in government work,
but $400,000 seems steep.
