The Aristocracy of the Democratic Party

THE ARISTOCRACY OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY; Aristocratic Tendencies of the Democratic Party--The Contest between the Patrician and Plebeian--The Patrician War--Its Natural and Inevitable Result--Reverdy Johnson's Letter--Its Statements and Misstatements--The Final Overthrow of the Aristocracy of Democracy. THE BEECHES, OCTOBER, 1864.

For forty years, what is called the Democratic Party of this country, has been engaged in a persistent effort to sustain an aristocracy. If the Democratic Party, so named, shall be overthrown utterly (as seems probable) in this election, it will be due to this single cause. From the year 1825, when JOHN QUINCY ADAMS was elected President, the Democratic Party allied itself to the Southern aristocracy, and maintained its supremacy by using the concentrated power (in electoral votes) of that aristocracy against Northern republicanism. No one will contradict this, who either understands political history, or knows the South as well as I do. Mr. RUSSELL of the London Times, has described that aristocracy very well.

Just another post about our history. Seems we're doomed to repeat it, and repeat it, and repeat it.

2. What is it with all the links to the 1800's Democratic party? Some people are obsessed
with this. The problem is the Democratic party of the 1800's is nothing like the Democratic party today.

3. Two posts (OPs) is obsessed? Have you checked your posting history
of late?

If you don't like the history of your party...tough. We learn from the past or we don't. If you don't like it, tough.

The issues which face us now have faced us throughout history. See my sig line.

6. Your monitoring my posts? I'm so flattered.
Oh, and you missed the sarcasm. I was just simply reflecting the kind of words that had been used on me. I made two posts today on one topic too.

8. Nice try. Liberal bait someone more gullible. Done with you.
You and I do not agree nor do I see a time in which we will. You're a waste of my time and typing.

Work on your delivery of sarcasm.

The last word is yours if you want.

7. The aristocracy morphed into the corporate plutocracy.
Now it's them against the rest of us plebes.

9. When the goal is power over others, it will always be such.
Whether the power comes through title, land, cattle, number of wives, number of votes, number of slaves, or the amount of money as designated by dollars or bits and bytes, power will create, sustain, and defend, that which gives it power over.

And we will continue to ignore our history and attack each other while ignoring those who have power over.

{insert some pithy remark here} because I'm plumb out of pithy right now.
