Rice will not comply with House subpoena
By Klaus Marre
April 29, 2007
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice made it clear Sunday that she does not plan to comply with a subpoena that the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee authorized this week.

Panel Chairman Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) wants Rice to testify on the administration’s false claim that Iraq was seeking to acquire uranium from Niger. The congressman feels that Rice has not been responsive enough to repeated written requests for information on the issue.

However, the Secretary of State, when asked by ABC’s George Stephanopoulos why she would not comply with the subpoena to make her case, said that at issue is a separation of powers issue. Rice was making the rounds on the Sunday talk shows to discuss the war in Iraq and the subpoena.

“I respect the oversight role of Congress, and I’m perfectly willing to continue to try to answer whatever questions Chairman Waxman may have about this very thoroughly investigated issue,” Rice said on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

It's pathetic that they think that they still have a chance to rally the public opinion to their side...
Not all the toadies in the world, Condi...That ship has sailed.(and you'd know about ships, or is it oil tankers?)

No danger to Bushco there.

8. What the hell is a 'separation of powers" issue and what does it have to do

10. Waxman should make it clear that he would like to serve the subpoena
in a dignified manner. If, however, Condi refuses to comply in a dignified fashion, then Waxman will be forced to use the power granted to him to use coercive means for compliance.

13. Next time I'm subpeonaed I'm going to use her excuse.
I bet a warrant will be issued for my ass faster than I could say "Ferragamo".

If Condi has nothing to hide then why not follow the laws of this nation and comply with the damn subpeona?? If they don't like our laws and don't wish to abide by them, then they should resign and get the hell out.

14. Send the Seargent At Arms to arrest her!
If she doesn't show for her hearing, it's time for Congress to hold her in contempt and send the Seargent at Arms to arrest her.

For that matter, Conyers, Waxman and Leahy need to send the Seargent at Arms to the White House with an armed squad of deputized Capitol Police to seize the White House and RNC email servers.

It's time to show those bastards that subpoenas aren't optional.

16. OK, Democrats, how long are you going to put up with this?
The Republicans have lied to you and to us.

So has the Bush Administration.

They have accepted bribes, violated laws, violated the Constitution, covered up, outed, distorted, lied, manipulated, and now refused to cooperate with oversight.

This is what the American people are seeing. And which party is in charge? Dems need to get the lead out, find their spine, and start playing HARDBALL (no recs to Tweety).

Enough is enough! Hold Rice in contempt of Congress and throw the book at her. This is really too much.
