But she really is for at least Monday-Wednesday.

44. Yes
when discussing MSNBC it's sometimes tough to distinguish the laughable from reality.

So it seems they will continue giving on-air auditions throughout the country until the audience approves . . . sort of like American Idol. Well done Mr. Abrams.

ya think? wow, what a difference! i couldn't bear to watch imus with that stupid cowboy hat, plus i couldn't understand most of what he was saying.

I loved her shout out to NY governor for supporting gay union legislation- I wonder how middle america audience will receive that.

The reason I like Stephanie so much, though, is she is so hard to hate. If anyone can win over people, open up their minds a little bit, its her. Funny, pretty and always positive, smiling, she has a very warm personality.

She might just land this gig!

84. Can't judge her after seeing only one show ...
... but it was a bit soundboard-saturated and the political critique seemed shallow. I've watched the first bit of today's show and both seemed to start off very slowly; I wonder if they don't need to jump into more substantial info or an interview more quickly. Seems like you could skip the whole first hour without missing anything.

Hope she makes an impression, 'cause she's still better than Imus. (I expect she'd get more, better interviews over time.)

9. She's great... but my only complaint
is that the morning radio comedy shtick doesn't translate to TV (all kinds of sound effects and stuff while the PICTURE shows the deadpan faces of the crew flipping through notes and stuff. Do more of the major player interviews and less of the phone calls too.

Don't get me wrong, on the radio this stuff is great, visually, not so much.

But I love steph!

were great. So were all of the others. Reading from the page suits the format, and it worked well for Imus partner Charles MCcord, considered by his peers to be one of the best talents in radio.

Jim is a major talent, imo.

71. I wasn't talking about the impressions...
rather the constant "sound effect" cuts and cutesy segment introductions (again, pre-recorded sounds or voice overs). The impressions were funny and that guy is pretty good.

What I'm talking about isn't reading from script, but when the pre-recorded stuff is going on, visually nothing is going on and the staff (Steph and her assistants) are marking time by flipping through their scripts or notes.

I liked McCord for the most part, he had a good radio voice and mostly did a straight reading of the news, plus he would call Imus on some his shit.

74. She's good, but over-produced. Period. Too much anger and schtick
to help the cause for good, serious government.

I know Randi can get quite filthy, but, she doesn't have as much malice in her voice. She gets there on occasion, but it's not wall-to-wall.

Sorry, I want to hear the truth without all the extra noise. I just do. The truth is good enough. If it's the truth, it doesn't need decorating.

Although it does contribute to the overall "live" ambiance. If Steph becomes a regular (fingers crossed)I am sure they will make refinements.

McCord had/has a golden voice for radio.

But Steph and CO. just blow away what was the Imus show. That was one terrible show! And I don't see anyone else out there that can bring to MSNBC what Steph has to offer.

Keith could a lot worse than dating her.

I do think that I already like her better on TV than on radio.

Somehow I can't see MS NBC having the nerve to continue to run such an obvious progressive. I'll bet their phones are ringing off the hook with neo-cons. That is one reason we need to flood MS NBC with e-mails because The Republics sure will.

I love Stephanie...I couldn't watch this every day, though. Unlike Keith, whose format is heavily news-based, Miller basically re-hashes the same routines every day, and I think MSNBC would see her rating drop precipitously after a relatively short time.

and the shtick. But I was impressed by the content. Mostly. The Hackett interview was weird to me, probably because of the familiarity between host and interviewee, which I was not expecting. The armpit sweat stains are probably way better for radio than TV, too. But it was day one on the toob - maybe she was nervous?

Thanks for making it so easy by putting the link in the OM.

I kept it short and sweet by writing a "thanks for having Stephanie Miller on" in the subject heading--that way the person who's keeping track of viewer feedback can see right away that it's a pro-Stephanie message. The e-mail itself was more of the same. It took no time at all.

Wouldn't it be neat if, with Keith's success and (fingers crossed) Stephanie's, MSNBC came to realize that there was real money in, and a real audience for, a liberal-leaning TV channel?

3:00 a.m. is too late to stay up and before 6:00 a.m. is too early to get up. Last night I dreamed that I got up and watched it. By the time it came on the radio (here) it was already over. From what I heard, she sounded very nervous at first, but then seemed to get into a groove as the three hours went on. These hours are messed up for the West Coast, though. Part of the charm is hearing her live. I don't like taped radio.

I just e-mailed. It would be great if they kept Mama and the mooks permanently. I am an avid listener to her radio show every morning and I was tuned into MSNBC-TV today. The more Steph's audience expands the better.

I think you do have a better chance at persuading people to your point of view with humor as a key element.

78. Maybe you have to get used to her. I thought the show was awful.
But I don't know her, so maybe she's an acquired taste? It was embarrassing...she seemed so nervous, and the show was so bad. I changed the channel. Which is same thing I did with Smerconish.

Did she have a political guest on? That's what I mainly look for in the morning shows. In between the banter and other stuff. I waited and waited, but I didn't hear anyone announce that there would be a political guest on.

79. Same here ... I actually prefer IMUS because of the guests
<go ahead DUers ... flame me if you must>
I thought she was horrible ... switched to CNN. At least Smerconish had some good music on a time or two.... and a few interesting guests. I couldn't wait that long with Miller to see if she redeemed herself any....too painful ....

82. I wouldn't say she was terrible, but I do agree with your comments about Imus.
Watching her and the idiot that was on last week reminds me of how much more entertaining and a better interviewer he was. He had good guests on too.

81. She has a guest on EVERY day
She had Paul Hackett today and Charlie Rangell tomorrow. She gets lots of heavy-hitters on her show.

This L.A. fan of Momma thought she did just fine!
