Yeah-yeah, forgive forgive----uh, NOT me!1 As with the Iraq Attack and the COUNTLESS other events that many of us low level nobodies without any special intelligence resources KNEW were wrong back at the time, while our oh-so-smart-and-connected leaders DIDN'T SEEM TO HAVE A CLUE ABOUT, do our Dem leaders KNOW that PICKENS is involved in the alternative energy industry BECAUSE it's the next new thing for him to rake in MORE obscene piles of cash from?! And who are KERRY's allies----------------Joementum and GRAHAM. Yip, THAT's the ticket.

Yeah-yeah, educate me, flame me, I'm so pissed I'm cross-eyed.

John Kerry, Swift Boat backer meet

.... In an effort to build support for the climate change legislation he’s crafting with Sens. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Kerry last month met quietly in his Washington office with the two lawmakers and T. Boone Pickens, the Texas oilman behind the Swift Boat attack ads that helped sink Kerry’s 2004 presidential bid. ....

Pickens, who has contributed more than $6.6 million to Republican candidates and committees since the 1980s, has reinvented himself in recent years as a leading champion of clean energy. He has spent some $62 million and counting on television ads urging Congress to encourage development of wind and natural gas, in which he has business interests.

At 81 years old, his new crusade has landed him improbable audiences – if not alliances – with leading environmentalists, then-presidential candidate Barack Obama, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid – who once called Pickens a "mortal enemy," but more recently referred to him as "my political friend” – and dozens of rank and file lawmakers who have signed onto a natural gas bill he’s pushing in Congress. ....

In an hour-long meeting that was extended to accommodate Senate votes, Kerry, Graham, Lieberman and Pickens discussed “several alternative energies and the economic benefits of comprehensive climate and energy legislation,” said the Senate staffer, who said there was no discussion of the bitter past between Pickens and Kerry. ....

After TIME Magazine’s Michael Duffy briefly mentioned during the “tell me something I don’t know segment” of The Chris Matthews Show last weekend that Kerry and Pickens has met, host Matthews declared somewhat disbelievingly “So, John Kerry’s going to forgive him of that character assassination?”

“I didn't say that, but they are going to try to work together,” responded Duffy, prompting Matthews to recall Pickens’ Swift Boat role: “What a brutal attack that man put against” Kerry.

1. He's full of shit, Senator
He comes on all smooth and aww shucks, but he is and always will be only out for himself. Trust me. I know this.

Don't listen to him Mr. Kerry.

2. Kerry is the latest leader to do so. He resisted until today while Reid, Pelosi, and Obama
met with him at least since 2007.

However, I agree. It bothers me that they are meeting with Pickens because he is in it for the wrong reasons, including grabbing lands for water rights. But I'd like to hear a view of this meeting that does not come from Politico.

5. I have to say, this is another instance of Obama's need to succeed on a bill forcing Kerry into
a horrid situation. Again. I understand that a president needs successes to bolster our strength and reputation in the world, but...Kerry takes his part in helping Obama succeed on certain issues too seriously for his own good, imo.

6. Ode to my faithfully stalking UnReKKKer!1

Dear One,

Guess what, not EVERY thread posted is worth EITHER a Rec OR an UnReKKK!1 And I myself said many times during the Great Debate on UnRec that I never look at the Greatest Page and regard it mostly as a tool for Visitors, like media types who don't have the time to delve through the entrails of DU, but how I DO a lot of Rec-ing (obviously, for OTHERS), both for merit and to keep worthy topics from falling through the cracks.

Ah, you DISAPPROVE of thread after thread!1 Woe, WOE is you, YOU!1 Kisses to make your sour woe all better for you --actually, NOT!1

7. Kerry is making lots of compromises to get Republican votes
Edited on Wed Mar-03-10 02:10 PM by bananas
A lot of us are angry about it. In December he wrote "the road to 60 votes includes some nuclear power and some other pieces that you wouldn’t have to consider if you had 60 Senators named Kerry or Gore". There's no need for new nuclear plants.

Climate Change Reality: The Senate Debate
by John Kerry
Sat Dec 12, 2009 at 08:30:25 AM PST

I’ve come here to this community for a discussion about many issues, from the war in Iraq to filibustering Sam Alito to stopping drilling in the Arctic --and many others.

9. We’re not going to have a perfect bill. I wish we could. But like Ted Kennedy taught us, you fight for the ideal but you keep your eye on the prize to get progress any way, anyhow. Yes, the road to 60 votes includes some nuclear power and some other pieces that you wouldn’t have to consider if you had 60 Senators named Kerry or Gore. But the planet can’t wait for perfection.
