Cleric's 600 page fatwa condemns martyrs to hellfire

A leading Pakistani cleric has issued a religious ruling in Britain condemning terrorism, saying suicide bombers are destined for hell.

Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri's 600 page religious ruling, or fatwa, is a very different message to the interpretation of Islam in which martyrs go to heaven.

Dr Qadri says there is nothing written in the Koran that could be used to justify suicide bombings, rather, he warns that Islam condemns such acts.

"These kind of activities will lead them to hellfire and they are not involved in any kind of martyrdom operation," he said.

4. Most clerics have been saying this stuff for years
what makes this different is that it's a written scholarly opinion in the form of a fatwa. It's going to be a lot harder for radicals to ignore now in favor of their twisted version of already twisted Wahabbism.

It probably won't alter present radicals, all committed to the erroneous idea that unattainable goals justify vicious means, but it might decrease the pool of recruits somewhat.

7. well i wouldnt say most of them.. i follow this closely i have seen 3 or 4 over the years..one needs
to understand the context relevant to the Prophets Sunnas on the subject. that is a real eye opener. but it takes study, finding what to study.. studying a selection of works and acquiring an overview to judge them with. you cant just read the Koran.. first there are editions written with 9:5, and hundreds others removed or rewritten to make it palatable to 'Non-Believers'..

the first western translator of the Koran said it was "Wrist slittingly boring". ...."it is like listening to 2 people you don't know talk about something you don't understand" the Koran is the conversations between Muhammad and Arch Angel Gaberial..about Allah.
the "Hiddah Book" has the details and context, the Sunnah Book has what Muhammad said about it..basically. it is very complicated and that is why the vast majority of Muslims have never read it. the Mullah's explains it for them.
and it is seriously redundant, and non-Linear, it is arranged by the size if the verse.. not chronological, just bits and pieces gathered together and filed relative to size, not subject.

i have discovered that reading books by Apostates of Islam provides the best information.. they understand the Arabic, they are highly educated, Wafa is a Gynecologist she has seen the worst of the worst, they grew up in it, lived it.. the culture they lived is is very tribal, everyone knows everything. it is at the personal level that the subject comes alive.

i find authors like Nonie Darwish, Wafa Sultan, Ali Sina, Robert Spenser, absolutely fascinating, .. if you read the company propaganda or the Cleric's ruminations you'll want to just cut your own throat after a while.. F'n boring beyond belief! and there is no way to even know if it is even true..

8. Yes, it's a collection of sermons, some of them astonishingly
long winded, in no particular order and once you leave the poetry of the original Arabic behind, mind numbing in translation. I haven't been impressed with the translated excerpts I've read and I have to respect people who not only managed the whole thing, but who can produce scholarly opinion based on it.

And yes, Wafa Sultan is someone I've been paying attention to. Critics of any faith or discipline generally inform you better than true believers do.

However, the formal religious opinion issued by this cleric might just cut down on recruitment a bit. You can bet it will be circulated widely.

11. its about time someone saved Islam from the bastards. Now we need
someone to save Christianity from the bastards. Hmm, there seems to be a pattern here. I am very, very glad to hear about this.

6. i'm reading Nonie Darwish's book on sharia law... Link>> it is a must read book.. she lived under
Sharia law for 30 years. her insights are fascinating, multi faceted..she is definitely a Scholar on the subject, from the details to the big picture. she has covered this sort of publication Fatwa. i am more amazed every time i pick up her book. i read it mostly at breaks and at lunch at work.

9. Doesn't matter. Republicans will bury this story, and Democrats will itch their ass and go back to
sleep. "Bearing Witness" and "High Visibility" aren't concepts Democrats get.

12. Maybe he has authority, but it still seems wrong.
No one has a right to tell someone else that they are going to Hell for whatever reason. I know this particular pronouncement is favorable to us, but it's still authoritarian religious dictatorship.
