What's missing in this Tulsa TV station story about UE benefits being delayed....
http://www.newson6.com/Global/story.asp?S=12052969

24 paragraphs. Not one word about Bunning's filibuster. Just this:

In Washington, Democratic Senator Harry Reid tried to extend the deadline, but Thursday night the measure was blocked by what he calls partisan politics.

In a statement Reid said it is irresponsible for Congress not to act and immoral.

Joanna Martin agrees.

"They have no clue. They act like they do. And while the Republicans want this, the Democrats want that. Well, I just want to feed myself. I just want to put a roof over my head," said Martin.

snip

Senator Reid plans to pick the issue back up on Monday.

See? It's all Harry Reid's fault. :banghead:

1. Doesn't it just infuriate ya?
It's old hat by now, but I still care about America and Americans... so I still get pissed with this crap. MSNBC has a huge task countering all of it.

2. The Dems are missing a great chance
by not pinning this SQUARELY in the GOP's lap.

4. That would be the point, wouldn't it? How is that even possible with Bushiganda so firmly woven
into the fabric of the Corporate M$M.

Time and time again we've seen it - Orwellian double-standards.

Not that I am absolving the Democrats, to allow something to be created, like the RW Lie Machine/Corporate Media Fusion and institutionalize it so that it runs automatically in almost all cases, and not try in the slightest to figth against it or counter it, heaps plenty of blame on their narrow shoulders.

But the fact is that it IS. "Pin it squarely on the GOP"??? How, prey tell to do that, when anyone who reads this story doesn't even know the GOPs part in it?

When a nation's mind has become that diluted, that polluted, with disinformation, misinformation and Bushiganda (or any-ganda for that matter) said nation is off the rails and is capable of any atrocity, no matter how foul.

5. Wouldn't it be nice, just once, to see a Dem leader
march straight to the DC office of an offending Repuke (in this case Bunning) with an army of rolling cameras in tow and microphones on and say "America, this is why ---- or ---- is happening (or not happening)- Herein lies the reason for the mess we are in".

You and I will never live long enough to see it happen.

They don't give a damn about the quaint notion of journalism or the responsibilities that go with it.

9. the story in the op is typical of what i see in my local news....
when you multiply that by the number of local channels, including the local faux affiliates, it can have a serious effect on public opinion.

10. I was just surfing my old hometown's newspaper and came across it...
On the Denver TV websites there was just one link to the CNN story which did mention the Bunning filibuster. You are right. This is how public opinion is shaped.
