McCain on MTP bitching about importation Canadian drugs...
He said Republicans can't support Obama's healthcare bill because it doesn't use common sense solutions like importation of drugs from Canada.

Uhhhh John, Bush backed by the GOP fought that for 8 years.

2. LOL. What a farce.
McCain is such a joke. A tragic one, to be sure. How many houses do you own now, John?

3. I agree with post #1. Obama should be opposing Bush's policies, not supporting them.
I HATE the deal with Pharma. And now to hear Obama might have made a deal with the hospitals is pretty revolting. I sincerely hope that is wrong.

7. Yep, he sure has! Problem is IMO, he tries to play too many angles at once. If he
just listened to the people that elected him, and did that, he would easily win in 2012 and have many supporters. Also he got into trying to manage health care too late. IMO he should have been the lead driver in health care on day one. Now he's playing catchup. And, the democrats in congress are their own worse enemy, always all over the place on what they want than united. That is no way to get anything done.

4. Unbelievable!
Remember the Medicare drug bill? Dems were pushing for re-importation and negotiating prices upfront. The GOP fought *hard* against those provisions. Now he's saying the GOP can't back a healthcare bill because it doesn't contain those provisions.

They just say anything to obstruct.

6. I don't get the re importation thing at all.
How can that be the right way to deal with high drug prices? Since when is importing anything more economical if you can produce it yourself at the same or lower cost? Reimporting when you do produce it has to be idiotic!
Force the bastards to sell to us for a fair price!

9. Exactly.
Maybe next he'll propose that going to Mexico for surgery is a viable alternative for Americans trying to lower the cost of that.

12. I couldn’t agree more
reimportation is ill-logical. Canada bargained with/coerced drug companies to sell drugs at a fair price. Why can’t our government do the same? Oh yeah, now I remember it doesn’t do so because politicians are bought and paid for by big pharma. Big pharma needs to keep the prices artificially high to continue buying our politician.

10. I would like to hear an explanation from
Obama on that point too. What he did to stop Dorgan's bill showed his true colors. He isn't working for us.

13. He deserves credit, he and almost all Dems including Senator Obama supported this
But the President (and his friends Senators) decided against it recently.

I know there are many more reasons he does not support the bill, but on this one issue, he is right!
