ABC News: Prostitution Scandal - "thousands of names, tens of thousands of phone numbers"
Edited on Sun Apr-29-07 02:35 AM by ariesgem
ABC News investigative journalist Brian Ross blows the doors off the Washington DC prostitution scandal and reveals the myriad Washington insiders involved.

"There are thousands of names, tens of thousands of phone numbers, and there are people there at the Pentagon, lobbyists, others at the White House, prominent lawyers — a long, long list, and as well, the women who work for the service, David, include university professors, legal secretaries, scientists, military officers."

on a regular basis (like "calling for a pizza") are paid too much. Women who supplement their incomes by engaging in prostitution are paid too little at their day jobs. This says a lot about our nation's capitol. (Or is it capital?-give me a break, it is early and I am not fully awake.)

28. Besides
The Republicans have been working so very, very hard at protecting our freedoms -- while the Democrats are selling us out to the enemy -- that you really can't blame one or two (or a thousand) Republicans if they find it necessary to get a little R&R along the way. War is hell.

I want to stake out my turf... prostitution should be legalized but should also remain deeply shameful for all stakeholders involved.

it's not called the "world's oldest profession" for nothing.

listen carefully:

it's.
just.
sex.

btw- what other normal human behaviour do you consider to be immoral only if money is involved?

41. apparently not...
seeing how many people participate in it, and support it's legalization.
morality is entirely subjective, and in the eye of the beholder. i see nothing immoral about a fair price for services rendered.

predatory lending practices, obscene profits, capital gains tax cuts, out of control ceo compensation as compared to worker salaries, etc. those are the REAL immoralities.

or can't you see that?

34. Sex for money is slavery.
The idea of the woman who willingly has sex for money, and lives life as a "happy hooker," is a lie. (And no, I'm not going to repeat any jokes about marriage here.) A couple of years ago, I discovered my older brother paid hookers for sex when he was a teen - stole the money, too. He helped contribute to those women being abused and eventually killed by their pimps. I will never have anything to do with him until I attend his funeral.

If I were the journalist who had this info, whether ABC News wanted to make profit off it or not, I would publicize the list on the Internet, giving names, addresses and phone numbers. Send it everywhere. With it being kept out of the public eye, I'm sure the big names on the list - which I suspect includes people a lot of DU'ers want to see impeached - will get away scot free.

18. When we first heard about this it was phrased as being a Republican
Edited on Sun Apr-29-07 07:46 AM by higher class
insider perk. That's the way I remember it. Started with Cunningham? What's not clear to me is where resignations start (or not) or where they end. Do they just go after organizers and the women (assuming we're talking adult women)? And, wouldn't the IRS be involved also?

I ask again, there appears to be a pompous-arrogant theme running through evertything we're learning. These people operated under the assumption that they reigned and would never be exposed. They were all operating on an out-of-control mania - whether it was secret prison abuse, female soldier propaganda opportunity, bringing down a CIA operation, sex, casino deal profiteering, vote theft, politization of government employees by an administration, land or product dealing. This 'club' of people were delusional. WHY?

20. Most of them it seems, as you said
never figured they'd lose their Republic majority hence, no investigations would ever have taken place and things would have continued unabated and "Election 2008" would have been almost completely sewn up. That, among all the other outrages that the neo-cons have conspired together on which you point out above. When kkkarl's "the math" proved to be somewhat lacking on election day, it was like someone had thrown a wrench into the "Fascism Express" and the somewhat wobbly push toward the Unitary Executive model of governance came completely off the tracks. And this is where we find ourselves today. Thankfully we the people, through our elected representatives are now able to shed the cleansing light of day onto the villainous dealings of bush, cheney, Meirs, Gonzalez, Rice and the rest of this odious administration. Oh and rove, ... don't want to exclude this filth in the coming disinfecting of the Executive.

of these morally superior men on that list were merely trying to convert these women from their sinful ways. I'm sure their public statements will claim their involvement placed them in this position as missionary only.

23. Ah... the Joys of showing blatant hypocrisy...
:D

IIRC...someone accused Alexander Hamilton of having an "affair" in the hopes of creating a scandal that would bring him down. His answer, "Yes I am, and what business is it of yours?" End of potential scandal, in fact, he rose in the minds of the majority as an honest man.

What will be interesting, is to see the names of those who decried "illicit sex" as the "sin of all sins", and got outed. I have no realistic idea which party will come out "on top" of this scandal, but I am willing to bet it will be the R's, especially those that are the screech monkeys against sex in any form.

As an added bonus, just as the "Clenis" was described ad nauseum, I hope that the "endowments" of those named are described as well...:D

Lott: "small penis, testicles more like peanuts"
Gingrich: "demanded that he lay 'divorce' papers on chest"
Sensenbrenner: "took half an hour to find his penis, never did find testicles"
Frist: "wanted me to wear a cat fur stole and a death mask"

The list goes on...:D

I'm gonna guess about a 60-40 split, Repugs to Democrats implicated in this. How the media spins it will be interesting. It was probably Karl's idea to bust the prostitution ring because when this hits the news nobody will hear anything for awile about Iraq, US attorneys, those pesky little congress hearings, etc. It's gonna be sex, sex, sex 24 hours a day for awhile.

All Republicans claim to be family values types.

And after this, they will still claim to be family values people who have sinned because of Adam and Eve and they are praying for Jesus to forgive them. After all, forgiveness is a family value.

35. I can't help but feel that this is very unfortunate.
Personally i could give a damn who sees a prostitute. But i realize that this, more than anything, will really inflame public indignation.

I find it tragically sad that something as personal and harmless as sex should ignite public ire - while issues surrounding our nation's engagement in torture, invasion of a sovereign nation, illegal wiretapping, imprisonment without Habeas Corpus, and so on and so on, barely registers a yawn in the public psyche.

Poor innercent lil conservatives were all misled and corrupted by that evil Clinton's vile example. If he hadn't got that stuff all over Monica's dress and then lied about it, none of this would have happened.
