John McCain gets air time first on meet the press while dems won the election and he lost....
I just can't stop ranting on the unequal treatment by the press. When Bush was president NO Dem ever went first on major issues and the majority of the time were not even interviewed. How many times did we see Al Gore being interviewed as the lead on Sunday morning talk shows? John McCain got to go on and on and none of the important points of the healthcare bill were even talked about. The polls that all the press are using makes it sound like the american people want to start over because they support the republicans. Can't it be that neither side are satisfied with the bill so left and right are saying start over? Poor Debbie at the round table could not get a word in. Wasn't allowed much time on healthcare but was asked about ethics and Charlie Rangel.

If this upsets you too email David Gregory at: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6872152/ns/meet_the_press/

3. and the Dems that DID get the most airtime were Dem hawks. Lieberman, Bayh and Biden got booked
regularly back then. They started booking Biden less after he finally turned against the war in early 2006.

I remember many of the bigname Dems, especially Bill Clinton, using their airtime in 2004 to actually SIDE WITH BUSH'S war decisions over Kerry's positions against Bush's decision to invade.

The corporate media remains a huge problem for our side.

13. GE owns NBC
who woulda thunk that one of the biggest defense contractors on the planet would stack the deck with warmongers on their premier Sunday-morning political talk show? Why else would GE get into the TV biz in the first place? They need a mighty Wurlitzer on which to play the strains of their wartime siren song. It doesn't matter to them who's fighting who - just as long as defense contracts keep getting written. It's all good for the profiteers!

4. Saw a stat based upon Lexisnexis search
Under Shrub these shows were about 3 to 1 repub. Under Obama they are basically equal. That didn't seem to work out well enough so they seem to be giving more time to repubs over the past month.

7. Criminally complicit corporate media
It is no longer debatable that the M$M is not just vapid, but criminally compromised. You see it at the network level and right down to jaundiced local news. RW screed even trickles through sports talk on the radio.

8. Meet the Press is still the GOP's go to location to launch their...
propaganda...Just like when Cheney and Bush used it to sell the war. It's like Timmy Taterhead never even left.

9. The Republicans won the last election. At least it appears that way
and has all along.

This is result of One Party being intense and passionate
and determined their views be in the news continuously.

Did you hear D. Gregory ask--Where are those fighting
for the HCIR. Where are the marches, advocates.

All we see are the Groups against it?????

This is not posted saying what is right or wrong but what is.

14. Gregory doesn't give airtime to those FOR healthcare. At the townhalls the newsmedia focused
on a handful of teabagging protestors and GOP political activists, and gave NO TIME to the hundreds or thousands who supported healthcare reform. It didn't MATTER how passionately people were/are FOR reform - they were/are ignored by corpmedia.

15. Beltway Circle Jerks...
Much of the problem are in the producers...the people who arrange the panels as much as it is Gregory. These are beltway types who live in the bubbleworld of "conventional wisdom". They've created their own "stars" and this dictates a lot of what one sees on all the Sunday shows (or if one choses to watch, which I don't). McCain has always been a darling within the beltway media types...the "maverick" no matter how badly he got his ass handed to him in 2008. Doesn't matter to them, they think he and the others on their "A" list (Lieberman, Boner, Cheney) are "ratings" winners. Remember, the bottom line to these networks is $$$$ and the fact so many here tune in and bitch proves how well their "conventional wisdom" works. Sunday morning shows used to be informational, that ended in the 90s. Now it's a lot of verbal diahrea.
