Tuned in about halfway through "The McLaughlin Group" this evening. They were discussing
health care reform and its chances for passage this year.

Pat Buchanan's opinion was that it was unlikely to pass in its current form because people just aren't excited about it and don't support it. There is much more passion, said Pat, AGAINST HCR, as evidenced by the tea party rallies and marches and town hall protests.

"Where" he asked rhetorically, that confident and condescending smirk etched on his face, "have the pro-healthcare marches been?"

*******crickets*******

I have tried several times to enlist support for a pro-healthcare march in DC. Several other DUers have made that same proposal.

The response?

4. Yes, you're right , I'm sure. We would be much better off to just drop the whole issue
since we didn't get everything we'd like. Nevermind that we could be handing over the government to people who make Bush and Cheney seem half-way rational.

Obama hasn't delivered our vision of Justice For All, so fuck him, right?

Keep your shrug.

5. Is this about Obama or doing the right thing?
I could care less about oba -- he'll be fine.
It's everyone else that's a worry.

7. For years the conservatives have known Intensity wins, so they keep
the intensity hot, scaring people they are going to explode.

This works for them because they with all their disunity
are unified as Republicans. Losing the election jarred them
into reality. You better believe they will be intense
until the election. This is one of their tools in controlling
the Media.

The first step is unifying as Democrats and as a Party actually
believing in something.

8. Millions marching against the Iraq war never stopped it.
What makes anyone with a functioning brain think that marches will bring about a real Health Care Reform?

9. What Buchanon said
Edited on Fri Feb-26-10 11:00 PM by MGB67
was a pure fracking lie. The "teabaggers" are shams, shills and pimps created (bought) to disrupt meetings, get the attention of the whore press and provide basis for asshats like Buchanon to tell the big lie about the "public dislike of HCR".

It is all cotton candy.... some shape but no substance.

10. Thr people most likely to make the effort to march want Universal HC.
How do you ask people to become activists on behalf of lies and betrayal?
