Gibbs is saying that he thinks Obama will have an announcement next week
as to what the next step forward in health care will be.

They're grilling him for more info -- reconciliation? Was this a set up? But of course Gibbs can't comment on stuff like that.

I thought Obama said six weeks? Looking forward to what he has to say next week.

2. A set up, huh? It is impossible to work with a brick wall.
Like talking to a table, as Barney Frank once so eloquently stated.

7. Because they're asking him what the next step is, what's Obama gonna do? Maybe
he just said it to shut them up, otherwise the questions would keep coming.

4. I was surprised to hear the "six weeks"
Edited on Fri Feb-26-10 03:56 PM by Inuca
Speculation I heard/read before the summit was that the the timeframe is around one month, namely passing the bill before the Easter break. But we know by now how deadlines and timeframes have worked in the past....

9. misquotes from the media probably

Obama, in his wrap up, said that if the Rethugs thought they had anything they could contribute in a two wk, month, six week timeframe, then he was more than willing to try and work with them.

He was NOT saying he'd wait six weeks to act. IOW, they should tell him NOW what they want to be included on so it can be worked into the finished product over the next six weeks tops.

13. Listen very closely to the comments at the very end of the conference and you'll hear it there
I watched the conference end to end as it was happening and I heard it - I remember the disappointment, I expected action next week. At any rate it didn't come from spin after the fact.
