Letter Opposes Transgender Ordinance
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - The views of a local catholic leader may impact debate in a controversial ordinance proposal before Fort Wayne City Council.

Four years ago, now retired Bishop John D’Arcy circulated a letter to members of South Bend City Council, opposing an attempt to protect transgender individuals from discrimination.

D’Arcy argued it was more about validating homosexual lifestyles than addressing unjust discrimination.

The proposal was defeated in South Bend.

Now the same letter has been distributed to several Fort Wayne council members, as a similar proposal is being pushed by 2nd District Council Member Karen Goldner.

Goldner hopes to try to introduce her proposal in two weeks.
