6. A reference to History Channel's
Life After People, which isn't history at all so go figure.

And, yes, if people suddenly disappeared, grocery stores would be a nightmare. But, then, there would be no one there but the rats and beetles to experience such horrors, would there?

12. why does everyone assume that if people were wiped from the planet that animals would survive?
That's why I find the show moronic. Are they going to come up with some WMD that is only harmful to humans? What catastrophe could possible happen that would only affect humans and not other living species?

20. It's a thought exercise, nothing more.
It's a complete hypothetical to illustrate how fragile everything we take for granted is (and I think a pretty fascinating look at the manner in which it would all crumble without us).

Just because you can't think abstractly doesn't make it "moronic."

21. So it takes a TV show with ominous music to tell you how fragile the social environment is?
Geesh, and you say I'm the one that can't think abstractly. Alrighty.

15. That cracks me up too.. Especially the episode that focused on the "big cats"
from zoos... um.. are we to believe that just before the people "left", they ran around unlocking cages & removing gates & fences from the secure "look-only" habitats?

and how do the aquarium-ed animals fare? (the big ones would do ok until the littler ones had all been eaten:evilgrin: )

animals that had managed to survive in whatever "wild" was left by then, might rebound...but any animals that were "secured" by humans, would probably starve to death before they figured out how to get free:(

8. After people, cats will live in highrises in NYC!
And Dogs will suffer. :( Can't get out of their houses and some won't be able to adapt once out, after relying so much on humans for so long. Okay, Life After People makes me depressed.

17. And in the death, as the last few corpses lay rotting in the slimy thoroughfare...
The shutters lifted an inch in Temperance Building, high on Poacher's Hill
And red mutant eyes gazed down on Hunger City
No more big wheels

Fleas the size of rats sucked on rats the size of cats
and ten thousand peoploids split into small tribes
coveting the highest of the sterile skyscrapers

Like packs of dogs assaulting the glass fronts of Love Me Avenue
Ripping and rewrapping mink and shiny silver fox, now legwarmers
Family badge of sapphire and cracked emerald
ANY DAY NOW...

The Year of the Diamond Dog...

18. Even with people, it's a chamber of horrors.
Aisles being blocked by inconsiderate idiots, old people moving at a snail's pace in front of me, soccer moms walking themselves and their brood down the middle of the parking lot, and worst of all.....some old man attempting to use the self-checkout.

Sometimes, I still wake up in the middle of the night, covered in sweat, screaming, "NOOOO, DON'T PAY WITH A CHECK!!!!!"
