Just opted out of my Citi Card
They wanted to charge me $60 a year just to have their card unless I charged over $2500 a year on it. I opted out and I will no longer be able to charge on my card. I am able to keep the balance on the card until paid off at prior terms in which I have a promotional APR of 1.9 percent for life on the balance transfer promo offer.

3. CSR told me they will probably offer me another card
without the fee. Looks like they are seeing what they can get away with. Regardless, I don't need any more credit at this time.

7. Good, pay that puppy off and don't look back
I've managed to cope quite nicely for the last 18 years without a charge card of any description, saw the "keep em in debt for life" scam taking shape when they started those ridiculously low monthly payments coupled with all the junk fees. I established my credit in this town by buying used cars and paying them off early and was able to get a home mortgage on that basis, alone.

You can live perfectly well without credit cards, using ATM cards on a separate account for online purchases.

While the convenience of plastic loans in your wallet can't be beat, the bills always come due. It's always better to save up for what you want. Often by the time you've saved enough, it's no longer that important to you and you're ahead of the game.

11. you are better off to take out a small loan from a bank
but that money in a savings account and pay it off if you want to build a credit rating than you are to pay the fee.

credit worthiness is determined also by the amount of debt you have available to you. I called citi and asked them to lower my limit.

I never use the account but never canceled it either, but now I will.

12. CitiBank Checking just implemented a new policy
Starting April 1st they now reserve the right to require 7 days notice before making any withdrawal from any checking account.

:wtf:

So if they find themselves tight on money they can hold any check you right for 7 days just because they want to. Every check will take an entire extra Week to clear.

That will guarantee that every one of their customers will all be late paying almost all of their bills. Everyone will end up buried in late charges. Those late charges can add up quickly to a hell of a lot of money!

And if one of those late payments is for your citibank credit card, not only do they hit you with a late payment, they get to jack up your interest rate too, and make a fortune off you until you pay off the card. How fucking convenient.

:grr:

This is Evil!
