3. I had a co-worker who bought a brand new K Car
She'd had it maybe a month when one day the driver's door fell off. While she was driving.

5. Not even a casual mention of the telcos?

For handing over to the corrupt and evil BushCo Regime every aspect
of our personal lives without even the hint of due process?

8. Don't forget GM and the side gas tanks
GM pickups had that unfortunate tendency to explode from side impact collisions because some genius put the side gas tanks outside the protective I-beam. Dateline NBC did a story on it, and got savaged by both GM and (surprise) General Electric. Why was GE worried? Because in the demonstration collision, it was the GE-manufactured headlight from the colliding car that ignited the fumes from the ruptured gas tank that caused the explosion, and GE didn't want to be on the hook for any damages due to GM's defective design.

So a well-orchestrated corporate campaign was launched against Dateline NBC, with NBC initially standing by its story, then buckling to the pressure from two well-heeled sponsors (and part owner, as GE was at the time). The "cover" story was that NBC had had ignitors ready to use in case the spilled gasoline didn't explode on impact. Never mind that safety tests are conducted with ignitors for just such a reason, to determine if flammable conditions exist. Never mind that even though the ignitors weren't fired in the NBC test, the truck blew up anyway. NBC disavowed the story to assuage its corporate overlords, and helped keep dangerously defective trucks on the road.

11. What does any of this have to do with the failure of Toyota today
how many people died from the gas tank rupturing? And you have got the story so blindly biased against GM without posting actual links it becomes hearsay.

This thread is a hook, meant to try and divert people's attention away form the facts, and the facts remain, NO AUTO COMPANY in over 100 years had so many cars recalled at one time.

9. I'll grant you the chevette...
and the pinto - Put In New Tranny Often, and the pacer even though the pacer-x was sort of neat, but the computerized rochester carbs weren't that bad - it was people mucking around with them expecting them to respond like another quadrajet that was the problem.

And I'll grant you the firestone issues, and the bronco rollover issues, and most certainly vista...

But the vega?

That was a great little car, especially for those of us who knew thier true nature:

Particularly the 70-73 models. They resembled a mini-camaro in a way:

I'd love to get my hands on a clean 70-73 vega, to this day, if I could find one for a reasonable price.
