Calif. has a nuclear density probe event

http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/index.php?smp=&lang=eng

Thieves may have gotten more than they bargained for after stealing a nuclear density probe used to obtain moisture data on soil. The device, which was in a red fiberglass case with radioactive stickers on the exterior, was reported stolen from a construction site in the 100 block of Smoke Tree in Hesperia at 7:18 a.m. on Feb. 16. Inside the case was the probe, hammer, metal plate and plastic box. The device contains radioactive capsules. If removed from the case, the probe can cause radiation burns, according to the Hesperia Police Station. The last four serial numbers of the probe, which is model No. MC3, are 6969. The device was manufactured by CPN.

1. I had a smoke detector event in my house (I dropped one)
Radioactive Americium, which is a decay product of plutonium, may have been released. It emits alpha and (harmful) gamma radiation. :scared:

2. I had a carrot event in my kitchen.

My wife dropped a carrot containing Carbon-14.
We ducked and covered for 3 hours praying it wouldn't go prompt critical and take out the neighborhood.

I guess after 3 hours it would be "delay critical" huh?

Sometimes I tell myself that ensho must really be a nuclear supporter "double agent" because he makes the anti-nukkers look so silly. Then I realize no they just are that silly.

3. As long as the mass of the carrots wasn't supercritical you should be ok.
Carrots, bananas...I don't know what to eat anymore. Can't drink water because of the tritium.

They say red wine is good for you, though. :silly:

5. Well, you could have had it dated.
But, then, your wife might have objected to your dating a carrot. No wonder she dropped it!
