Do the nation's leading CEOs need their hands held? WH Dinner tonight in the State Dining Room
Edited on Tue Feb-23-10 10:51 AM by bigtree
President Obama is set to host leaders of top companies as he continues to reach out to the business community…

As the latest in a series of meetings between President Barack Obama and the business community, the President will host the CEOs of leading companies at tonight’s White House Dinner at 6:45 p.m. in the State Dining Room

An Obama administration official announced a partial list of attendees Monday including: Wal-Mart Stores (WMT) CEO Mike Duke, Verizon Communications (VZ) CEO Ivan Seidenberg, JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM) CEO Jamie Dimon, Honeywell International Inc. (HON) CEO Dave Cote, Eastman Kodak (EK) CEO Antonio Perez, , Xerox Corp. (XRX) CEO Ursula Burns and PepsiCo Inc. (PEP) CEO Indra Nooyi.

The dinner comes a day before Obama addresses the Business Roundtable, association of chief executive officers of leading U.S. companies. Several of the corporate leaders, including Seidenberg, Cote, Perez and Duke, are members of Business Roundtable’s executive committee.

President Obama will address the group tomorrow as part of his administration’s work to counter the perception that he is anti-business. This assumption is widespread in the business community with a January Bloomberg poll in finding that 77 percent of U.S. investors surveyed said they see the president as anti-business.

1. So What Is He Going To Tell Them?.....
That he's not anti-business - he just wants it to look that way. Or is he going to tell them to get their act together.

2. I don't know how he can scold them
. . . and 'reassure' them at the same time.

I'm waiting for my invitation to the Working-Class American Dinner in the State Room. I would probably just depress the president, tho.

3. ... so why doesn't he have a WH Dinner for community organizers ...
... and people who work directly with the homeless and sick/dying/abused or those who've been forcelosed upon or lost their life savings to the very companies tonight's CEO's represent?

 I am soooo disappointed in POTUS Obama. Beyond words.
