Apple bans sexual content from iPhone app store but not religious fundamentalism
The New York Times reports:

Apple has started banning many applications for its iPhone that feature sexually suggestive material, including photos of women in bikinis and lingerie, a move that came as an abrupt surprise to developers who had been profiting from such programs.

--snip--

Among the victims of the purge was a game called SlideHer, a puzzle that challenged users to reassemble a photograph of a scantily clad actress. Another, Sexy Scratch Off, depicted a woman whose dress could be whisked away at the swipe of a finger, revealing her undergarments. Such programs often appeared on the store’s list of most-downloaded apps.

--snip--

The iPod Touch is popular with children and teenagers. And the company is hoping that the iPad, due out next month, will be a hit with families and as an educational tool in schools. That could be a hard sell if the catalog of programs available for it is cluttered with racy applications.

However, PZ Myers points out that the app by the Bible literalist group Answers in Genesis is classified as EDUCATIONAL in the iPhone app store. That's right, dishonest, mindless Young Earth Creationist/"Teh Bibl3 i5 the tr00th" propaganda pumped in the iPhone daily is considered "educational" by Apple Computer!

Welcome to the 2010s, folks! You can't jack off to your iPhone, but you can praise the Lord and get lifted!

I wonder if Apple Computer has ever heard of something called "parental controls", which have existed for Internet technology since the '90s.

2. In the Big Picture, it's REALLY important to have the choice of jacking off to a phone.
For over two hundred years, Americans have given their lives in the fight for our right to do that.

6. The only thing I want my phone to do
Is make and receive calls.

If I want to look at "feelthy" pictures, I'll do that at home on the big screen. If I want to browse and check email, I'll do that at home too.

90% of the time I don't even have my cell phone turned on-when I'm out of the house, I don't want to be bothered.

7. Me too but I am about to turn 55 years old
If I were 25 chances are I would want the newest and fanciest electronic gizmo I could get my hands on.

Age changed my viewpoint on such things.

8. I'm sure you'll find something else to masturbate to. I have confidence in you.
If it bugs you the solution is simple. Don't buy one.

differently.

10. Is This the Logical Progression From "I Want My MTV!"?
Seems the biggest outcry, by far, is from the self-entitled little twerps who call themselves "developers."
