...right after they show the 90 minute "Selling the War" for the first time too.

It really suck. I just wrote to the Moyers website to tell them how pissed off I am about it.

Here's a link to the Transcript, the site says the video will be there tomorrow:

<http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/04272007/transcript1.html>

Btw, Click the TV Schedule link at the link above, it will tell you if you're in the same boat as me.

The government depends that we're too busy to examine this war.

They sent 10,000 more troops...They'd like to send 400,000 but that would mean a draft and then we'd suddenly not be so damn busy...

72. EXCERPT FROM TRANSCRIPT:
JON STEWART: But war that hasn't affected us here, in the way that you would imagine a five-year war would affect a country. I think that's why they're so really — here's the disconnect. It's sort of this odd and I've always had this problem with the rationality of it. That the President says, "We are in the fight for a way of life. This is the greatest battle of our generation, and of the generations to come. "And, so what I'm going to do is you know, Iraq has to be won, or our way of life ends, and our children and our children's children all suffer. So, what I'm gonna do is send 10,000 more troops to Baghdad."

So, there's a disconnect there between — you're telling me this is fight of our generation, and you're going to increase troops by 10 percent. And that's gonna do it. I'm sure what he would like to do is send 400,000 more troops there, but he can't, because he doesn't have them. And the way to get that would be to institute a draft. And the minute you do that, suddenly the country's not so damn busy anymore. And then they really fight back, and then the whole thing falls apart. So, they have a really delicate balance to walk between keeping us relatively fearful, but not so fearful that we stop what we're doing and really examine how it is that they've been waging this.

54. I did. This is a copy of the email I got back from the program manager.
Believe me, I'm no fan of the auction but as program manager, I must
also work with our fundraising and development offices to generate
monies to buy the programs we broadcast. While it's not the best time,
Bill Moyers Journal is airing Sunday, at 1 pm.

The auction was scheduled for these dates almost a year ago and involves
the coordination of hundreds of volunteers. We did not know the Moyers
program was airing on this date until February of this year.

If I had my way the auction wouldn't be on the air period. It would be
on-line. I am constantly fighting to keep programming on WCNY as
scheduled by PBS nationally. When we have fundraisers I try to schedule
the new programs pre-empted by the events as soon as possible...which in
this case is Sunday.

The films in last week's AMERICA AT A CROSSROADS series featured
viewpoints from all angles, not just Perle's. I received complaints from
Republicans and Democrats on various films (more of which will appear
Sundays, May 6 and 13 from 3-5 pm due to the auction) which tells me
there was balance when looking at the whole of the series.

Dale Wagner
TV Program Manager

Looks a little testy. I wonder if he's been getting lots of complaints.

71. Ha! Dale thinks "Crossroads" had balance because he received complaints from both sides.
Gee, isn't it possible that the each segment was imbalanced in favor of one viewpoint or the other?

Judging bias by "balance" or "number of complaints" is an effective tool, since the bias that needs to be measured is the degree to which the facts are uncovered and reported.

This was the first time I have seen Jon interviewed where he wasn't trying to distract the interviewer.

65. Just caught the replay here on the East Coast
I'd this weekend was a double slam dunk for Moyers.

Hell,a triple slam dunk if you count the nice comments about Halberstam at the end.
