Did a Teabagger Fly a Plane into an Austin Building?
by Deep Brain Diarist
Thu Feb 18, 2010 at 10:29:56 AM PST

According to reporting on MSNBC, someone named Joe Stack allegedly set his house on fire and fled to an airport, stole a small plane, and allegedly flew a plane into an office building which houses the IRS.

Now, Oliver Willis on his website, makes this incredible find.

Sort of a teabagger manifesto, purportedly written by Joe Stack.

In relation to the plane crashing into the IRS office in Austin, Texas, this website has a long rambling rant from a guy named Joe Stack with a grievance versus the IRS. If the site goes down the text is here.

3. If so, he's one of those Bush-hating, anti-capitalist teabaggers
Of a sort I'm unfamiliar with.

11. So you're saying you are familiar with the other kind?
David Kline was on Washington Journal this morning swearing before gawd and everyone else that the Tea bagger movement has a very big tent and that it includes a diverse range of political leanings. And now you're going to tell us that there's only one kind of tea bagger?

20. You are aware that there are literally millions of people out there
who believe that GWB was too LIBERAL - he was tax-and-spend big government, he represented a bastardization of conservative ideals which would abolish the IRS, restore primacy to the states, etc. Ever hear of Grover Norquist? Shrink the government to drown it in a bathtub? Anti-bailout, government has no business saving businesses from themselves?

They are ALSO teabaggers. Teabaggers are not simply an activist wing of the republican party - why do you think so many republicans are getting primary challenges from teabaggers?

Perhaps you need to look behind the spin.

25. Most Teabaggers have distanced themselves from Bush as being "not conservative enough."
I have no idea why he's considered anti-capitalist? I've read the cryptic quotes on the subject, but there is much more meaning in the rest of his rant.

5. I think the guy was just angry and nuts
Yeah, that describes most of the teabaggers, but there may be something entirely different going on here. But fine, if it helps you to attach him a political group that you don't like.

just wanting people to share your hysteria and it's irresponsible for KOS to post this.

12. Thanks.
Not to defend the teabaggers or Repubes or Libertarians or whoever...but his ramblings sound just as left wing as they do right wing. Sounds like he was manic depressive or something. He's all over the place.

24. I was going to post the same thing
Now trust me I massively prefer the far left folks who whine about corporations and Bush and the capitalist system to the Teabaggers who do the same from the other side, but there is no way to know which way this rant is coming from. If I HAD to bet I would bet left wing more than right as corporations come in for a lot of angst, along with what looks like a negative comparison between capitalism and communism that no Teabagger worth his incorectly spelled sign would dare approach even in death.

13. Doesn't seem likely.
His manifesto is all over the map, politically speaking, but the Tea Bag essence appears to be absent.

21. More liberal than a tea bagger?
He got started in teabag readings of the tax code and protests in 1986. He wasn't a teabagger, he was a tea leaf.

27. He spent much of his rant about the lack of Health Care
He talked about the government bailing out Wall Street. Republicans are on Wall Street's side, Republicans are against Health Care. Those are two reasons I think he was every bit as much Liberal as he was Conservative.

BULLSHIT!

Sure sounds like another right wing bagger who snapped. I guess it's only "terrorism" if the person is dark skinned and speaks "funny".

19. What proof do we have that the internet post was actually written by Stack?
Edited on Thu Feb-18-10 02:17 PM by kestrel91316
For that matter, what proof do we have that Stack was flying the plane? What evidence do we have at all regarding the plane and who owned it.

I wanna see legitimate evidence, and not random internet pages..........

ANYBODY could have written that and posted it after the guy's name came out.

BTW, I thought Stack owned the plane but somebody ELSE stole it after setting his own (and not Stack's) house on fire.

22. Looks like he didn't like paying taxes. Anti-tax groups sprang up like wildfire in the early '80s.
If he really was it by a $40,000 fine and 10 years, then he believed he was exempt from federal income tax.
