Franni Franken vs. Michele Bachmann On Social Security
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/02/18/franni-franken-vs-michele_n_467263.html

Al Franken's wife Franni Franken has thrown herself into the Minnesota Senate race in support of Michele Bachmann's likely opponent, Tarryl Clark, blasting Bachmann's radical ideas about Social Security and Medicare. "Bachmann suggested that Minnesota seniors be "weaned off" Social Security and Medicare. If you followed Al and me on the campaign trail, you know why that was so hard for me to hear," Franken wrote in a press release this morning.

Franni Franken continues, on a personal note:

When I was a baby my father, a World War II veteran, died in a car accident. In one tragic day, my mother found herself raising me and my four brothers and sisters on her own. We made it because of Social Security survivor benefits. The idea that a member of Congress would advocate pulling the safety net out from under seniors and families who depend on it every month is absolutely terrifying to me.

Also this morning, Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) appeared on Fox Business and continued her fight against social security, which she calls a "tremendous fraud."

2. I cannot even begin to imagine how Bachmann gets any votes aside from a few total
crackpots. How she has managed to win her Senate seat is beyond my comprehension. It shouldn't even be a contest.

As happens so often HuffPo is wrong on the details.

8. Oops sorry.
Well, how she gets into any elected office is beyond comprehension. What kind of nutjob votes for her?

10. The HuffPo article actually says "Senate Race" so you're not entirely to blame
We'll let you off the hook, this time. But don't you dare make that mistake again.

4. I can name some special
interests that should be "weaned" off the Social Security funds. How about the wealthy beneficiaries of the Reagan and Bush tax cuts and how about the military industrial complex that is partially funded through social security deductions.

5. There is a serious error here:
Edited on Thu Feb-18-10 02:21 PM by bvar22
Michele Bachmann is a Congresswoman from the 6th District in Minnesota, NOT a Senator.

Unless I'm mistaken, both Minnesota Senators are Democrats (Amy Klobachar, Al Frankin) who were elected last year, so they won't be up for re-election until 2014.

11. I 'm so glad this ding bat doesn't live in Indiana.
If she lived here the morons in this state would crown her as their queen. Well technically she'd have to be princess first. They'd crown Palin first but she would quit half way through her term.
