Gore's Army
NASHVILLE — The stocky man with the soft Southern accent rivets the hotel ballroom crowd with his plea: "We are in a time of peril, so please allow me to explain a topic that has overwhelming importance in my life."
Meet, no, not Al Gore, but Gary Dunham, 71, a grandfather from Texas who was the first of 1,000 Americans Gore trained to deliver his Oscar-winning An Inconvenient Truth slide show to schools, Rotary clubs and nursing homes around the nation.

To date, The Climate Project has drawn everyone from Wal-Mart workers to Cameron Diaz. And though the 1,000 mark has been reached, "we keep hearing whispers that (Gore) might do more," project director Jenny Clad says. "I wouldn't call this final."....
Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Dhani Jones, who came because "the sports community is not really represented in this fight, so I thought I could fill that role. I grew up outdoors, swimming, skiing, biking. Things are strange out there now. The weather's odd."..

2. That's not what this is about
The Climate Project is about working to save this planet through grassroots action that will ultimately bring about political change, not placard waving.

4. And the most impactful position Gore could have to fix the climate is by being President.
Fact. :)

5. Actually, that is an opinion.
If it is fact, prove it, because based on the past thirty years and the military industrial complex system we have, I don't believe it. And I would say that the most impactful position regarding this crisis is that of the American citizen and he is proving that right now.

3. "Peck wrote that 'Evil is the absence of truth,' " Gore says,
The nearly last paragraphs from the article:

It's showtime: Gore strides in from the back of the ballroom and takes center stage. In tones alternately hushed and animated, he invokes everyone from Mahatma Gandhi to Oliver Wendell Holmes to psychiatrist/author M. Scott Peck.

"Peck wrote that 'Evil is the absence of truth,' " Gore says, his fingers laced together at the waist, eyes scanning eager faces as he wraps up his remarks. "I believe we have the capacity to feel when something has a ring of truth to it.

"I'm asking you to come with me to a time in the future, when our children and their children will ask either 'What were they thinking?' or 'How did they find the moral courage to do what they said was impossible?' "

With that, Dunham and the rest of Gore's army surges forward and swallows its leader whole.

========

All I can add is a quote from Neil Young, "I'm looking for a leader with the Great Spirit on his side."
