Bush: "I'm sorry it's come to this."
Bush at Camp David today: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/04/20070427-6.html

"I'm sorry it's come to this. In other words, I'm sorry that we've had this, you know, the issue evolve the way it has. But, nevertheless, it is what it is and it will be vetoed and my veto will be sustained. And then the question is the way forward. And my suggestion is that -- and I invite the leaders of the House and the Senate, both parties to come down soon after my veto, so we can discuss a way forward. If the Congress wants to test my will as to whether or not I'll accept a timetable for withdrawal, I won't accept one. I just don't think it's in the interest of our troops.

I think it -- I'm just envisioning what it would be like to be a young soldier in the middle of Iraq and realizing that politicians have all of the sudden made military determinations. And in my judgment, that would put a kid in harm's way, more so than he or she already is. I really think it's a mistake for Congress to try to tell generals, our military experts, how to conduct a war. "

This occupation has 'evolved the way it has' because of Bush's insistence on forcing troops into the middle of Iraq's civil war, putting even more soldiers in harm's way, despite the clear intention of Congress and the American people that he end his bloody occupation. In case he's forgotten, Bush is the nation's most prominent "politician" who replaced generals who disagreed with what he was telling them with ones who tell him what he wants to hear. He's the one making all of the 'military determinations' that our troops should stay in Iraq defending the Maliki regime.

I'm envisioning what it's like for our troops to be subject to repeated deployments from a president who is completely disregarding the will of the majority of Americans that he withdraw from Iraq as he presses these soldiers forward.

7. He's probably also envisioned
being an honorable man who tells truth and that he was a real christian and people actually trusted him and liked him. (Such cold be applied to damn near anyone in his administration.) He has no fucking idea what those kids are going through. Many are probably thinking don't veto the bill dumbfuck and don't come visit us to cheer us up.

15. "envisioned being an honorable man" -- his imagination isn't THAT good!
Decent person that you are, you are being too kind ....

I suspect that Bush wouldn't recognize honor, truth, and compassion if they fell into his lap. (If they did, the poor things would probably vaporize from sheer horror.)

27. What the fuck indeed
So Perle, Wolfowitz, Kristol, etc. weren't "politicians" who "made military determinations" to get this whole fucking mess started???

Any general who has disagreed with the shrub's vision for Iraq has been replaced. So who has really been making the determinations for 4+ years? Answer, the king of the idiot politicians and his political handlers.

Let's let some new politicians make some determinations for a while. All the old ones have failed miserably.

What a stupid fucker, he and his neocon bastards all plotted and lied to start this war and now blame the Democrats for trying to stop it. But now they want to claim it is political?

What the fuck was it when Kristol and his bag of shit cohorts were doing in 2002/2003?

11. The answer seems clear to me.
Congress has passed a bill to fund the troops and Bush vetoes it.

So, the money runs out and the troops must be brought home.

Period. End of story. So dies a war that should have never existed in the first place.

Congress should just let Bush know that no further funding bills for Iraq are forthcoming, only funds earmarked solely to redeploy the troops home.

Take that, Bush. Check. Mate.

12. Last time I checked, Bush & Co. put those troops in Iraq *IN HARMS WAY*
Now he's just trying to run out the clock on his term with those troops stuck in Iraq.

Admitting a mistake in Iraq (a.k.a. withdrawal of troops from Iraq during his term) would be worse than anything else for Bush & Co., I guess.

The only things "keeping them in harms way" is Bush & Co.'s pride and/or relationships with contractors riding the gravy train that is Iraq no-bid contracting.

That an unelected, unenlightened leader would trash our constitution, our treasury, our voting rights, the rule of law, our democracy, our global reputation, and the lives of millions with presumed complete impunity and expect yet another "blank check" to further enrich his cronies at the exacting expense of innocents and the whole rest of the world.

Yup he's finally sorry. Gee I'm so relieved.

The psychopath thinks that our soldiers LIKE killing, because he would if he were there. He thinks that they ENJOY murdering, because he would if he were there. He thinks that they WANT to stay and have an opportunity to kill, because he would.

It's never crossed his mind that not everyone fantasizes about causing death and destruction.

What other possible explanation is there?
