Olympic Opening Ceremonies
Anyone watching? Just saw Iran come in with their first woman ever participating... progress is progress! I always find the opening ceremonies very interesting. I love seeing all the different nations come in. Even amidst a lot of international tension that always exists between some countries, it is nice to see that the world can come together in some way.

10. Interesting how Taiwan's flag...
was forced into a non-controversial neutral Olympic flag, and they are referred to as Chinese Taipai.

4. I loved the First Nations/Inuit/Metis welcome.
I didn't love the jazzed out version of the anthem, even though the singer herself was incredible. I just think the anthem should stay familiar, so everyone can sing along. I am a bit of a dork about things like that, though.

6. I agree.
I love watching how happy the teams all seem interacting with one another - it's like the problems of the world go away for a few weeks.

9. It's interesting how the mini map
that shows a country's location in the world always shows it relative to the US. But, maybe it's needed for many Americans I suppose.

11. Head of state is the 4 leaders of First Nation tribes
Thats awesome, all problems aside.

Yeah, its sad when Canada just rolls them out when its good for the country's image, when there is so much they could do (like address housing for one thing). But this was good for the indigenous people IMO
