Dennis Kucinich: Congress Must Stand Tall to Wall Street

Kucinich: Congress Must Stand Tall to Wall Street

Congressman Kucinich 111th

Washington, Feb 11 -
“Wall Street bankers have been lucky. They have been able to preside over, not create record profits for their banks during these times because they have gotten record assistance from the government. Taxpayers are justifiably upset to see the financial elites pocket millions, while the rest of America worries about losing their homes, losing their jobs, and providing economic security for their families.

“It is noteworthy that with an estimated $145 billion in bonuses in the offing, Wall Street is not interested in using the money to create jobs, put it back in the economy, or to give to shareholders as dividends. The financial titans are taking the money for themselves. It is time for the Congress to temper the greed of Wall Street, and my bill, HR 4114, the Responsible Banking Act, would do just that. HR 4114 would impose a 75% bonus tax on the bonus pools of Wall Street institutions, creating an incentive to spend their profits to help Americans. This is not just an issue with banks that took TARP funds; this is an industry-wide problem that requires an industry-wide solution.

“Many on Wall Street and in the government would have us believe that the near economic collapse was a minor miscalculation; that Americans need to simply accept their losses and let Wall Street continue its business as usual. Congress now wants to discuss fiscal discipline. A good place to start is Wall Street. Let's show Wall Street that we will not stand by and let it reward itself with billions of dollars in bonuses for dragging our economy to the brink,” said Kucinich.

1. How can an organization stand up if it has no spine?
Actually, it's spine is made of Corporate $$$$, which collapses upon command of the delivery system for our Corporate Neofeudal Aristocracy, which is the grotesque fusion of the RW Lie Machine and the Corporate M$M that serves as our national mind.

Sadly few other so called Democrats will join him, after all it's hard to betray your pimp when you're a corporate whore.

5. Compare this to Obama's wet kiss to Wall Street yesterday.
I KNOW who I will stand with, and I KNOW who stands for me.

”Unlike the other candidates, I am not funded by those corporate interests.
I owe them no loyalty, and they have no influence over me or my policies.”

7. Dennis Do-Nothing again stands up and mouths off...
solutions? None.

Dennis, how about looking into the sex/slavery issue in Ohio. That should keep you busy and away from the cameras for a bit.

Candidate for the least important Rep in the Congress.

9. "stands up and mouths off" the TRUTH again.
I still prefer that to appeasement of the Republicans.

If Kucinich was NOT speakin out, who would be telling these truths?
*Single Payer Universal HealthCare is not only possible, but cheaper.

*that "For Profit" HealthCare is obscene

*that Mandatory Health Insurance is NOT REALLY Universal HealthCare

*that the Democratic Party and American taxpayers should NOT be forced to subsidize some of the richest CEOs in history by subsidizing the HealthCare Insurance Corps and HMOs.

*that the USA SHOULD give the Imperial Palace (Green Zone) back to the Iraqis, close the permanent bases, expel all Corporate Consultants, withdraw ALL US Troops, and begin paying reparations NOW.

*that redeploying some troops at some future date is a PRO-WAR position.

*that the "Oil Law Benchmark" supported by the Democratic Party is a War Crime

*That we can have election accountability with "Paper Ballots publicly hand counted at the precinct".

*that we CAN cut $Billions$ from the Defense Budget

*that the RICHEST Corporations in history do NOT need $Billions$ in welfare subsidies

*that NAFTA (Free Trade) has not been a good thing for Americans who have to work for a living

*that Prosecution of War Criminals/Impeachment is NOT optional, our reps are SWORN to protect The Constitution

*that the USA should join the rest of the civilized World in banning Land Mines

*that the USA should join the rest of the civilized World in the International Criminal Court.

I can't help it.
I prefer those who STAND up for Democratic Values to those who lay down for Republicans.

Of course, YOU are free to continue supporting those who capitulate to Republicans.
CENTRISM!!!....because it is so EASY!
You don't have to STAND for ANYTHING,
and get to insult those who do!

"There are forces within the Democratic Party who want us to sound like kinder, gentler Republicans. I want us to compete for that great mass of voters that want a party that will stand up for working Americans, family farmers, and people who haven't felt the benefits of the economic upturn."---Paul Wellstone

People who practice and worship "American Idol" Politics tend to have perception problems.

You get outside of "Purty furst puppyz iz teh awesum" and "Sex0r beach pics", things get a little hazy, and communication becomes difficult. Try simplifying your approach to low brow sound bytes, and you just might get somewhere. :)

The only "meaningless" speeches I have heard lately have been coming from someone a bit higher up in the ranks than Dennis.
