26. Little help with the veto idea

Since this is my first post, please have a little mercy. I'm having a real hard time working out this presidential veto thingy and maybe you guys might help. My wife says I'm kinda thick some time and you guys are pretty smart. I've been reading the posts for quite a while but haven't had the guts to speak up.

Anyway, I know the MSM is running around acting like Chicken Little but I gotta step back and look at it a little differently. So the pres vetos the bill. I can almost picture the following exchange:

A "reporter" shoves a microphone in Reid's face and is yelling "whatta gonna do?".

Seems to me a proper response might be "Well, I was thinking of some seafood, maybe the halibut. A nice Sauv Blanc might work well with it."

The reporter says, "but, but, what about the troops - they need the money?"

Reid, "we gave him $110 billion - he didn't want it. I guess he doesn't really need it. So what are you going to have?"

Reporter, "aren't you going to try to override?"

Reid, "huh? Nah, probably not. Are you going to order or what?"

Maybe a little analogy might be in order. Guy sitting at the dinner table with the wife. Says he needs $50 to go out with the guys and watch the game at a sports bar. Wife says, "I can give you $60 and get some milk on the way home. But remember, I gotta work the 11:00-7:00 tonite so you have to be home by 10:30 to watch the kids." Guy says, "Hell, no. No way I'm going to cut my evening short just to coddle you. I'm the man here and I get to say when I come and when I go. I'm not putting up with any conditions."

Response, "ok, whatever. I'll be leaving for work at 10:30. Make sure the kids get their bath. I'll pick up the milk."

So, please help me out here. Where have I gone wrong?
