Poll question: How Will Obama And Congress React To Anthem's 39% Hike In Health Insurance Premiums
Edited on Tue Feb-09-10 10:07 PM by MannyGoldstein
California's Anthem Blue Cross has raised its subscribers health insurance premiums by as much as 39%.

Today, President Obama said: "If we don't act, this is just a preview of coming attractions... Premiums will continue to rise for folks with insurance; millions more will lose their coverage altogether; our deficits will continue to grow larger. And we have an obligation -- both parties -- to tackle this issue in a serious way."

Congress is opening a probe into the hikes.

How do you think this all will end up?

1. It's too bad that a boycott against health insurance companies can't be organized

2. HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has already requested
some information from them justifying their increase. That happened towards the end of last week, I think.

5. Organize a nonprofit insurance company
Every city and county in america could organize their own company, the city council and county supervisors could act as the board of directors every citizen would be covered,to cover some of the cost, tax tobacco products, alcohol, companies that pollute our water and air,cut back on the fleet of officials cars, enforce the tax laws, cut back on foreign aide, stop building stadiums for team owners. The savings would be enough to insure all americans.

7. California has a non profit health insurance company- Kaiser.
And the state legislature is drawing up a law for Single Payer, which Schwarzeneggar has promised to veto.

And tobacco is already taxed about 700% higher than it was 15 years ago... it pays for SChip (non-smokers are too self-righteous and cheap to chip in any tax monies for children's health insurance...)

Companies that pollute water and air have top quality lobbyists.

Tax laws are already enforced.

Stadium bond measures have already been defeated in San Francisco and in Fremont too I believe (the A's wanted to move).

Fleets of official's cars are being replaced with CNG and Hybrid vehicles, if they're being replaced at all.

Are you suggesting raising alcohol taxes to cover Single Payer which will be vetoed anyway?
