She's a Sarah Palin wannabe clone....down to the glasses
Heaven help us all. DUers in Texas, you have my sympathy. :scared:

:wow:

http://www.medinafortexas.com/index.php

"There's a blatant disconnect between politicians and the people they are elected to represent. This political disregard of what's best for the People of Texas and the profiteering of special interests has fueled a fire that is spreading across this Great State. We Texans now have the opportunity to put the Governor's mansion back in the hands of the people through Debra Medina, a business woman, rancher, wife, mother, homeschooler and person of utmost integrity.

For Debra Medina, politics isn't about party, it's about the people represented by those elected to government office. Debra Medina is the best candidate to put Texas back in the hands of Texans by leading the way to a return of constitutional government.

Both Debra and her husband Noe were born in Beeville, Texas. Raised on a South Texas farm, Debra's hard work and perseverance saw her through nursing school, a bachelor's degree and the start of her own business while homeschooling and raising two children.

**Debra Medina will protect the rights of individual Texans to Life, Liberty and Property through the abolition of the property tax and by asserting the Sovereignty of the State of Texas as guaranteed under the 10th Amendment of the US Constitution. She's proven her willingness to take a stand for what is right time and again, and now stands up to fight as David against two political Goliaths."**

1. I work with a woman who looks just like Palin
Same facial structure, same hair styles, same glasses. The first time I came around the corner and encountered her in the kitchen, my jaw dropped. I don't know if she's done this on purpose, or it's just a coincidence. I'm a little afraid to ask.

3. My husband and I are thinking about voting for her
in the Repub primary.

Bill White will easily win the Dem primary.

The only problem with doing this is that then Republicans start sending you all their crap in the mail.

What would be funny is that I used to be the alternate election judge in my precinct until recently. (The main judge is a Republican because our area usually votes about 75% Republican.) All the Republican election workers know I am a Democrat. I'll just let them think I've "come to my senses", until I finish voting and let them know otherwise.

11. Be careful with that. You may get what you ask for and..
I think it is illegal to do what you are suggesting. At least in Ohio it is. We had a lot of folks change to Dem so that they could vote for Hillary. Technically it was not legal. I would not gloat at the polls.

13. There is no party registration in Texas
Edited on Sun Feb-07-10 01:36 PM by WatchWhatISay
I don't think Medina could win. Unfortunately, I don't think any Democrat could win, either. Even if Medina did get the nomination, there are very few moderate Repubs in Texas, and even fewer that would vote for the Democrat because they think the Republican candidate is too radical.

Perry is probably going to win this thing again. I guess I would prefer to see Kay Bailey Hutchinson as governor. She is nowhere near moderate, but on the other hand, she was always just a good soldier, doing whatever the party establishment told her to do, without questioning anything. But at least now, she would probably not have as much ambition to move up the chain as Perry would (been there, done that), so she could afford to be independent thinking if she chose to. Not very likely though.

18. Oh how I hope you're wrong...(about Perry)
That's more disturbing than this Medina person.

You're probably right, though.

4. She's a high profile teabagger
Just one more inexperienced and clueless teabagger wasting money running in an election she will never win. Let them waste their money. It just proves how stupid they are.

Seriously, this is disturbing. The movement's like an out of control hydra or something.

"...stands up to fight as David against two political Goliaths."

Sarah was being compared to Queen Esther.

She's going to rope in some unsuspecting moderates too with that "special interests" talk. A lot on our side of the aisle are fed up with the banking crap and the big pharma crap (as they should be). This is going to resonate with them.

This is why I don't think this can be dismissed out-of-hand.

12. Yes, of ALL the MILLIONS of frames in the world one can pick for glasses
Edited on Sun Feb-07-10 01:13 PM by AspenRose
THOSE are the ones she chooses to wear.

Image, people, image!

(And I wear glasses too, so please do not see me as anti-corrective lenses! I DO find it curious that her glasses are similar to Caribou Barbie's, and reinforces similarity with her, just like the message she conveys. She's being marketed. And marketed to stupid people who don't know any better.)

17. *sigh* They aren't rimless, but they're SIMILAR
Edited on Sun Feb-07-10 02:49 PM by AspenRose
Unlike we democrats, I don't think red state teabaggers are going to take a magnifying glass and compare!

They are SIMILAR enough to render a subconscious comparison.

The IDEA is to REMIND people who support PALIN to back MEDINA.

Oy! Now I wish I hadn't mentioned the damn glasses! People are missing the POINT! And notice I said WANNABE!

23. ........ pssst
I'm only being difficult because after wearing glasses for over 50 years, I've discovered a place on the net for really cheap ones (like starting at $8 complete!), and have become engrossed in eyeglass fashion! lol!

And AspenRose

16. I like her, only cause she's gonna force a run-off between Perry and KBH
I would never vote for her, but during the little bit of the debates I liked how she's willing to call Perry on the carpet for crap he's done.

21. See, that's what scares me
She'll throw in just a morsel here and there, enough so those who normally wouldn't give her message any attention (especially the apolitical), listens a little bit.

22. She's not getting enough attention to outright beat Perry or KBH
I think the highest she'll do is force a runoff between Perry and KBH.
