The definition of "small business"

As it stands in America that can mean 500 employees and also include a subsidiary company tied to a large corporation.

I think when we talk of giving "small business" a tax incentive we need to know where our tax dollars may end up.

I think we need a change to a more specific definition that sections off the true "mom and pop" shops as the real small businesses of America.

2. Sneaky the way they use that word. Just like "Main st"..

I do not see many "Main streets" these days. Now its strip mall Rt 1 .. their may be a few family owned businesses on the outskirts.

3. Yep. A friend of mine owns a small business (just him and two employees)
and they do work for other "small businesses" of 500 employees or fewer who are tied to huge weapons manufacturers and rake in hundreds of millions every year. The definitions do indeed need to change.

4. I have a small business with 3 employees
and I cringe when I hear a politician say "small business" because I know he or she is not talking about me. I have zero clout except when I get active in politics and vote.

5. Everyone that I know that has a small business is on their own.
To me small business is less than 50 employees and that includes my business. No one is doing anything for them but a majority still vote republican. Go figure. I guess it has something to do with this whole Horatio pull yourselves up by your bootstrap thing.
