My goodness, I can now say, I'm in love with Andrew Cuomo
From the Bank of America Indictment

In September 2008, Bank of America agreed to merge with Merrill Lynch. This
merger has, in many ways, become a classic example of how the modus operandi of our nation’s
largest financial institutions led to the near collapse of our financial system. In order to complete
its deal, Bank of America’s management misled its shareholders by not disclosing massive losses
that were mounting at Merrill Lynch so that the shareholders would vote to approve the deal.
Once the deal was approved, Bank of America’s management manipulated the federal
government into saving the deal with billions in taxpayer funds by falsely claiming that they
intended to back out of the deal through a clause in the Merger Agreement. Ultimately, this was
an enormous fraud on taxpayers who ended up paying billions for Bank of America’s misdeeds.
Throughout this episode, the conduct of Bank of America, through its top management, was
motivated by self-interest, greed, hubris, and a palpable sense that the normal rules of fair play
did not apply to them. Bank of America's management thought of itself as too big to play by the
rules and, just as disturbingly, too big to tell the truth.

2. Sorry, the skinny "Semi-Homemade" cooking lady has him
Honest: I read it in Page Six:

The dark-haired Italian Cuomo—son of former New York governor Mario and once one of Playgirl's most eligible bachelors—and the perky blond homemaking expert aren't theater buffs or cultural connoisseurs, according to friends and colleagues. They're not regulars at any of the city's top restaurants. Instead, Lee often cooks Italian food for Cuomo, whose favorite meal is her simple lasagna, which she prepares with canned tomato soup, cottage cheese and ground chuck.

Really? She really makes lasagna with canned tomato soup and cottage cheese and ground chuck? I thought that was some crazy shit she does on the Food Network, which nobody would actually do. And Andrew eats it? Hilarious.

4. no self respecting italian would eat a lasagna made with COTTAGE
cheese instead of ricotta.

well, maybe a guy who was really into strength training and wanted more casein, but seriously.

COTTAGE CHEESE???

i mean, it's ok in a tuna shake, but a lasagna needs ricotta

15. Good for both of them. She had an awful, impoverished and abusive youth and turned her life
around. She also has a new show, helping families cook on tight budgets.

8. Not to Miller the Discussion
of Cuomo's personal qualities (g), but is that what happened? I mean, is there evidence to show that BoA is the one that deceived the government? I had thought it was Merrill Lynch that covered up their own losses. In any case, they still needed someone to take them over, and there weren't that many candidates.

9. According the indictment
Merill disclosed everything, BOA told them to keep it quiet.

10. Wow -- How Did BoA Expect That *Not* to Come Out?
That was completely idiotic. I still don't the angle about doing it to get bailout money. The feds desperately wanted a buyer for Merrill Lynch, and BoA was the obvious choice. BoA hadn't really done anything wrong up until concealing ML's finances. BoA didn't especially want to borrow money from the Feds at 6%, and started paying it back as soon as they could.

I suspect it was done with the stock market in mind -- they didn't want their shares to go to penny-stock range when investors found out about their "new" financil structure.

11. Probably because Paulson told BOA to keep it quiet
Cuomo isn't after Bank of America. He is after Hank Paulson and Ben Bernake.

14. Oh, Right,
that makes sense.

But seriously, I completely understand keeping it quiet. Why create a bigger panic and more expensive mess to clean up?

17. Our entire market economy and democracy is based on transparency
and openness. If we wish to be ruled like the Chinese because we fear a one or two day panic, than we certainly deserve every humiliation that comes with it.
