And his speaking style is something missing from Washington. He's been outside of the Beltway clique for a very long time, apparently, and it shows in his responses compared to the more reserved (dare I say "mincing"?) responses given by some of the other candidates.

18. Agreed. He's the Al Sharpton frankness that I thought was going to be missing ...

... from the race. Hope he hangs in for a while.

(... though I'm not sure he can overcome a certain Adm. Stockdale "Who am I? Why am I here?" vibe ...)

4. Gravel is an example of the power of passion. He has no intention of being president.
But he's damned sure going to make sure his voice is heard. And, he has the credentials to speak to our times. MKJ

9. Gravel said reason he's running to replace the income tax with a progressive national sales tax.
Edited on Thu Apr-26-07 08:38 PM by flpoljunkie
Not. gonna. happen.

Gravel did provide some levity to the debate--Sharpton's old role. I do not disagree with some of his positions, but passing a law that makes committing troops to Iraq a felony, is just plain weird.

12. It should have been (and is) a felony from the get go
In fact, the way our troops were commited to Iraq
is TREASON

a capitol offense trumps a felony

17. "The hardest thing in the world to understand is the income tax" - Albert Einstein
Just think of the time saved and increased productivity if everyone didnt have to spend 1-2 weeks preparing taxes.

right things and he seems like a good Congressional tactician.

19. Seems like the only candidate speaking with the passion we saw from Dean ...
... four years ago. Everyone else is being more measuring, including Kucinich.

16. Gravel is a good guy, but we & he knowshe will never be Prez!
That give him a lot of freedom to say whathas to be said! I love him for that, becauseit muct be said. He will make a difference in what's being talked about in the future debates.
