Anybody else think Tweety resents Olbermann?
He seems to cut him off at every chance.
Trying to outshine Keith.

Absolutely...because he knows that Keith is more legitimate that
Tweety will ever be.

1. He resents anyone that may appear to get more lip time than him
he interrupts EVERYONE. I'd punch him eventually.

3. Tweety goes off into superficial land and KO generally doesn't.
Tweety looks like a fool and he often time disrespects his guests.

6. I haven't seen their interplay from tonight, yet....
Edited on Thu Apr-26-07 08:12 PM by krkaufman
... but Tweety's disdain for KeithO was *obvious* the night they were covering the 2006 mid-term results.

I don't know their specific audience numbers, but isn't KeithO drawing more viewers? That would *have* to tweak Tweety; I'm sure he views himself as the premier host on MSNBC.

14. In media reports, Keith is credited with literally saving MSNBC. He is described...
as their golden boy. His viewership has increased 75% over last year. "Countdown"'s ratings lead all on MSNBC.

Is Tweety jealous? Hell, YES!

18. Ha! Thanks for the info. Yeah, I bet that turns tweety green ...

... with envy.

Keith's numbers, then, make the corporate bias so much more obvious, when you look at the rest of MSNBC's programming. Even with Keith's numbers going up like that, they still haven't added another left-of-center broadcast -- aside from the few days they'll be giving to Steph. Miller next week. Urrrgh.

p.s. And *then* you throw in that they're running a reality "documentary" on NYC models? They *really* seem to be having a difficult time copping the most obvious of clues.

21. ABSOLUTELY, Besides, if it weren't for that danged Olbermann,
tweety would have that special-events anchor chair all to himself. The very fact that Keith is there, coanchoring, is CLEARLY indicative of how valuable the brass sees him - not only to give him more and better exposure, but also to throw him some nice plums from time to time to keep him happy and thus, to keep him THERE.

Our friend tweety doesn't want to have to share with this snarky upstart (from the "Who Invited HIM???" Department). And he has to, anyway. I think it's quite true that he regards himself as the first-among-equals, and Keith has a LOT more momentum and pizzazz and eager fans/supporters than "Hardball" does. I'm sure our friend chris matthews doesn't have loads of insistent fans weighing in with MSNBC via email OR on the phone, OR, yes, in the ratings, the way Keith does. And he probably has his nose VERY thoroughly out of joint as a result.

These things evolve slowly. It's taking an ice age for the message to get through to the executive suites that the way Keith is doing it is THE NEW WAY TO GET RATINGS, TO STAND OUT, TO BREAK THROUGH TO VIEWERS AND MAKE THEM FALL IN LOVE WITH YOU AND REMAIN DEVOTED. Fine then. But the evidence of the many ways Keith has been elevated lately should prove that they ARE noticing. They ARE noticing. Maybe they don't quite "get" why he's caught on (speaking LOUD AND ANGRY truth to power, mainly), they just know he has. He's coanchoring big affairs like this. He got a big new contract with big new money. He got an in with the "Nightly News." His pungent commentaries get enough boffo reaction to MORE THAN offset any complaints or threats or bullying from the White House (otherwise they'd have been stopped long ago, Keith probably woulda gotten pissed off, and he might be broadcasting on some other outlet tonight). That's why he's still doing them. He was allowed to expand his "Worst Person in the World" feature into a book, and then go on all the other talk shows, Leno and Letterman, etc., to hype it. They flew him out to the TV Critics Association meetings clear across the country here in L.A., and then let him anchor from out here. The suits DON'T DO THINGS LIKE THAT FOR PEOPLE WHO AREN'T PERCEIVED AS HOT WITH THE VIEWERS. They don't throw all kinds of juicy bones at somebody who, they think, isn't delivering. They don't give these kinds of perks and this kind of latitude to somebody who isn't winning for them. See joe scarborough out there hawking some book he just cobbled together? See tucker being promoted all over other shows and in other venues? Is tweety popping up on Brian Williams' time?

17. Both Tweety and Scarborough trade in being 'insiders' - and Keith is Mr. Citizen.
Edited on Thu Apr-26-07 09:55 PM by TahitiNut
The insiders ALWAYS shove Pat Q. Public aside and proclaim the superiority of their punditry. It's a habit.

At least Joe seems to know he gets a ratings bump by following Keith. Tweety doesn't.

I'm surprised MSNBC hasn't co-hosted them yet.
