Edwards supporters, what is his position on a "residual force"

Edwards supporters, what is his position on a "residual force"
I know that he favors a phased withdrawal, but I've never heard him or read on his website anything with the phrase "residual force". As far as I know Obama and Clinton support a residual force and Richardson says no residual force whatsoever.

Can anyone shed some light on this?
