ALL the Democratic Presidential candidates did well tonight,
considering the awful questions and format. :patriot:

I am so happy we have intelligent and articulate candidates who can speak extemporaneously on whatever subject presented, unlike the troglodytes running for the GOP nomination - it's no contest! :D

Btw, Brian Williams, it's the GOP that is in trouble, not the Democratic Party. :eyes:

7. I would be a proud supporter of any one of these candidates!
I love them all, every one. :patriot:

There will be plenty of time to pick their carcasses apart in the coming days, but the next President of the United States was up on stage right there, and whomever it is, I feel pretty damn good about it right now.

Good call, Swampy. :hi:

33. We field a good bunch, don't we?
And if lightning struck that stage we would have another bunch just as good ready to go tomorrow. We are that rich in good, able, talented, intelligent, caring candidates.

The Republicans are hoping Fred Thompson will run.

13. The potential is here.
If the grass roots continues to demand change, each debate will improve. And if we keep up the pressure, come Election '08, we will be well on our way.

What will you do if the Democratic Party goes down for the third time perhaps forever (paraphrasing here). Hello, Earth to Brian, the Democrats had a sweeping victory in 2006 and it looks as if we'll break that record in 2008. The Republican culture of corruption marches along with more scandals every day and he thinks the Dems are in trouble???? The Republicans will be completely steamrolled by 2008 if they keep up the way they are going. What a bogus question that was.

36. The Democratic party won tonight ....
and that's despite a piss poor job of managing this debate by MSNBC w/ the firing squad/Right Wing talking point questions. I think each candidate showed strengths and articulated sound positions, which is nice to see so early in the process. Frankly, I see much more in the way of agreement between these candidates than disagreements. You can bet the Democratic candidates will sharpen their messages and answers as they debate further and continue the conversation as they try to distinguish themselves from one another.

So, right on and a hopeful night ... no losers tonight in my book. When you sit this crew next to the Republican goons in the running field, we win the beauty contest of style and win in spades when it comes to depth and substance.

40. everytime we have a debate, making a choice seems harder..
I thought Gravel's comment about feeling like a potted plant and about the insanity of waging war on terrorism were excellent. But I believe his rash statements about Biden made him seem desperate and even a little demented. Edwards made some excellent points on healthcare reform and on moral leadership, but he didn't even bring up our record deficits when asked about increasing taxes. Kucinich seemed a little wild and desperate when attacking Hillary and Obama, but I thought he made an excellent point about the oath of office with the copy of the Constitution he brought in.

I felt Richardson gave the most watered down answers on healthcare reform and taxes, but he gave excellent answers on foreign policy and how to handle Cuba. I felt Hillary seemed a little more human when giving her answers tonight, but she failed to make any single point that I remember. Obama had an excellent answer on healthcare reform this time, but I think he hurt himself a little by replying to Kucinich that "he wouldn't favor nuclear action..at least not right now!"

Biden and Dodd seemed to stand out the least in tonight's debate, while Kucinich and Gravel stood out the most..although not in a positive fashion. early in 1992 I quickly latched on to Tsongas, and backed him until he endorsed Clinton. The same was true with Bradley in the 2000 primaries. But this campaign reminds me a little of 2004, each primary debate only makes it harder for me to pick a candidate. Does anyone else feel this way?
