Why not call it the Bush War Tax: Some thoughts after watching the Congressional Budget Hearings
Edited on Fri Feb-05-10 06:42 PM by Mike_03
It was fascinating to watch Peter Orzsag try to satisfy the Repukes who were trying to pretend why we had not run up a ridiculous deficit over the past decade.

How can those pieces of you-know-what sit on these committees with a straight face and portend that any of this fiscal catastrophe is the result of anything that happened on President Obama's watch or our party generally. It makes me physically ill.

Yes, it might be painful for some of us to admit, but we need to raise taxes, and it is not mystery as to why: The Repukes thought deficits don't matter.

They said as much until President Obama took office. Once President Obama took office, and Bush left us in a state of wreckage, deficits suddenly mattered.

Even during World War II, there was something known as a War Tax.

If Obama has to raise taxes on the wealthy, which I suspect he will have to do, why not call it what it is to put the Repukes back in the doghouse where they really belong.

It is a Bush War Tax.

President Obama didn't get us into these wars. He didn't cut taxes on the wealthiest one percent of the people in this country.

I am SICK of watching these budget hearings where the other side of the aisle tries to lay the blame on our party. This is hogwash and horse shit.

If we have to do what we have to do to get our deficits back in line, let's name the taxes after the politicians who got us here.

The President Bush Wars Taxes.

Besides, in most cases, we are not really making new taxes but simply allowing Bush tax breaks to expire, isn't that right?

Sorry for this rant, I am just so frigging angry after watching these last two weeks of hearings on the CBO and new budget...

Argggg!!

3. I think we ought to call our present economic troubles the Bush Recession.
They should have called it that from the beginning.
