Court overturns Linehan murder conviction
Edited on Fri Feb-05-10 03:10 PM by Blue_In_AK
I don't know if any of you saw this case profiled on Dateline or 48 Hours Mystery a couple of years ago, but it looks like Michele Linehan is going to get another trial. This case and the companion case against John Carlin were really, really big deals up here a few years ago.

The Alaska Court of Appeals has overturned the murder conviction of Mechele Linehan, an ex-stripper accused of murdering a fiancé.

The decision, handed down this morning, concluded it was improper for Superior Court Judge Philip Volland to allow evidence about the movie "The Last Seduction" and a letter written by Kent Leppink in the days before he died in which he predicted Linehan would kill him.

Leppink's body was found shot to death in Hope in 1996. Linehan and John Carlin, the alleged shooter, were arrested on the murder charge in 2006. Both were sentenced to 99 years in prison.

Carlin was killed at the Spring Creek Correctional Complex.
