of thank yous from the republican leadership to President Obama for the great job he is doing fighting unemployment. I assume there will be a multitude of apologies also, as well as vows to work in a bipartisan way.

6. How to fake the numbers
They basically adjusted the Census Bureau #'s to cause a 'reset' so that the next few months of unemplopyment deterioration will look like it isn't getting any worse (ie - the next 3 months it creeps back up to 10% - "at least it's not getting worse" they'll say...). I see this as terribly bearish and a sign that .gov expects the REAL underlying numbers to get worse not better in the near term.

3. These numbers are a lie, cooked
They "adjusted" RE Cooked the denominator to get them below 10% if the numbers were not adjusted the rate woudl be 10.6%.

8. But but but....The administration said it would only get up to 8%!
That was a ridiculous assertion for the administration to make. Still, this is good news.

15. That's the thing about admitting mistakes...
if you do it often enough, people won't care about how much better it is that we have an administration that's not afraid to admit mistakes, they'll wonder why the hell there are so many being made. It's tough to admit your mistakes on a regular basis and retain peoples confidence that you know what you're doing.

When they say the number is absolutely meaningless.

Of course there is good news in the report, I'd rather them be talking about than the silly U3 number, but the American people are alas, not that smart to understand it.

Which is kind of funny, because a bout .5% of the population actually understand what is in that U3 number everyone is talking about today
