Los Angeles police were in Mar Vista on Thursday night detonating explosives that were uncovered, along with dozens of firearms, in a house that had been raided by gang and narcotics officers, according to authorities.

The undercover operation, which had been ongoing for several weeks, culminated when officers served a search warrant Thursday morning on a home in the 12700 block of Woodgreen Street, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

More than 100 firearms -- including about 20 machine guns -- and a number of explosive devices were found at the home in a quiet tree-lined neighborhood just south of Palms Avenue, the LAPD said.

At the home, officers arrested Brian David Cochran on suspicion of possessing machine guns, said Officer April Harding.

1. It'll be interesting to see if the 'machine guns' actually are.

3. I would suspect since the Charge is possessing them, they probably are.
Amazingly some police officers actually know a little about weapons. I guess the explosives they blew up were actually explosives as well...

6. I'm sure that's right. Police have never made unfounded charges.

5. I'm reading a book about gangsters right now.
The author is "monster" Kody Scott of the L.A. Crips. He says that even back in the 80s gangs had started buying their weapons from over seas by the case.

7. According to another story, he's an attorney. Here's a link
to his publisher's website. He's also a novelist, sorta:
