Franken: 'I don't trust promises' of Comcast, NBC given past experience
http://thehill.com/blogs/hillicon-valley/technology/79821-franken-i-dont-trust-promises-of-comcast-nbc

Sen. Al Franken said he doesn't trust the promises made by the CEOs of Comcast and NBC Universal "from my experience in this business."

Franken (D-Minn.), a member of the Senate Antitrust subcommittee, said his previous career "has given me reason to be very concerned about this potential merger."

A former actor and comedian, Franken worked for NBC for many years as a writer and performer on "Saturday Night Live."

"It matters who runs our media companies," he said. "The media are our source of entertainment. They're also how we get information about the world.

5. Franken continues to impress me
I supported Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer all the way to the state DFL convention and though he would have been a great senator, I am still proud to have Al Franken standing up for us.

6. I buy a lot of NBC/Universal content from iTunes...
I wonder if Comcast will continue to be okay with that.

7. He's turned out to be a far far better Senator than I expected.
Honestly, I could tell he was an intelligent guy, but I just wasn't sure he'd make the transition from comedian/talker to Senator. I thought he might be a lightweight, softball tosser, but instead he is one of the more thoughtful, gutsy Senators there.

I watched a video of him from last year chatting with some Freeper types about HCR. They were the typical angry screamers, but he immediately shut them down by his calm reasoned approach. It was really impressive.
