2. I just read the first media report on the interview
As feared, Jon didnt go after Oreilly, in fact he just made fun of himself, so much for the hope
that he would go after oreilly.

3. Im really disappointed
Having read more reviews, it seems Stewart , played the part of the sidekick.

Oh well if stewart wants his kids to grow up under a Palin president, he should keep doing what he is doing.

Make fun of faux on your own show, but when you get a chance to call them on their bs for real, just calm up like a girly man.

No wonder freepers make fun of dems.

Im rweally gutted with what i have read of his performance.

6. You were hoping for a repeat of when Stewart was on CNN's Crossfire?
That was golden.

I was kind of hoping for a repeat of that too...

5. Jon Stewart did his best to be jovial
and O'Reilly was a hostile prick. The video clip is in Political Videos forum. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x430867

9. Make sure alll of you who are appaluding stewart
Do so in 2012 wghen Faux News's BS leads Palin to victory.

I love stewart to death, but he had a good chance to really make a difference, instead he
did his coemdy act, there is no point in going after faux on his show now, if he wont
ever do it for real.

12. Yes he did, and some of his comments very well may have been edited out.
There were a lot of cuts in the interview.

13. The interview is also two days long.
But I've read some of his quotes and you cant say he didnt go after Fox. He did so in a more subdued manner though, not a combative manner.

I dont really think he is comfortable going on The Craptor. Having O'Lielly on his show is a complete different matter.

14. lighten up, francis. he's a comedian. he held his own well. it was funny...
the two exchanged their digs. played around. what's wrong with that?

you expected him to make a difference? what difference? these two dudes are entertainers. they do their act on tv. one right, one left. they respect each other, you should too. think "sheepdog" and "wolf" from the old bugs bunny cartoons.

i don't think jon stewart is who you think jon stewart is...

22. There is such a dearth of people who stand up to right wing bullies
like O'Reilly, that people put their hopes on comedians and bloggers. Certainly few democrats in the senate have bothered to stand up to Rush or Billo, even though we have a huge majority there.

Given their pathetic behavior and performance so far, our last faint hope rests on a comedy show host.

20. So If Mooselini Wins, Stewart Is To Blame??
I just viewed the video clips (Faux is blocked on my teevees) and it was pretty much what I expected. He walked into the cesspool and tried not to get as slimy as O'Reilly. He was a guest...not on his turf or on neutral ground (like CNN) and from my vantagepoint let O'Reilly act like his usual assholiness.

He IS a comedian...not a politician or prophet...and did his thing...making fun of the surroundings. He wasn't going to change any minds of the great unhinged that tune into that cesspool. Now let's see how he plays it back on his turf...or just moves along.

If Mooselini somehow gets nominated and "wins" in 2012 (:scared:), it'll be the fault of Democrats who wasted the opportunity to make good on their promises of change, not some comedian sitting in on a goofy "talk" show.

21. Precisely
the are two entertainers who use the news (or something that resembles the news) as their material.

That people buy into Faux News isn't exactly Stewart's responsibility to fix all on his own.

27. his speech patterns are oddly mamet'esque
if you actually just listen to his words, he sounds like a character in a mamet play.

it's totally odd. and something i've heard over and over.

25. Jon Stewart takes the hot seat with Bill O'Reilly
"Stewart, S-T-E-W-A-R-T," he told the security guard in the lobby of Fox News' midtown Manhattan headquarters. "I'm here to get crushed by O'Reilly."

In fact, what unfolded over the next 40 minutes was a vigorous, policy-laden debate between two of television's most popular figures who hail from increasingly polarized political worlds. Their discussion careened between talk of tort reform, global warming and the trials of the 9/11 terrorists.

But most of all, Stewart used his second appearance ever on "The O'Reilly Factor" to levy a robust critique of Fox News and its coverage of President Obama.

"Here's what Fox has done, through their cyclonic perpetual emotional machine that is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week: They have taken reasonable concerns about this president and this economy and turned it into full-fledged panic attack about the next coming of Chairman Mao," the comedian told his host.
