Democrats in the Congress are poised to pass both ENDA and anti hate crimes legislation. If those pass it would help us to become real citizens. Not able to be fired at will and not able to be harmed with the police sitting idly by. Any Democrat would sign these bills, no Republican will. Party matters. Presidents matter. In the mean time call your Congressperson or Senator and tell them you want to see these bills passed.

1. That a bill protecting people from being fired because of who they love even has to be debated...
is pathetic and sad. .....I'll definitely make those calls, even though my Senators and Congressman are all Democrats who'll vote in favor.

2. Iowa
I thought you were referring to the state of Iowa where our new Democratic majorities passed and Governor Culver will sign an extension of the state's civil rights code to include sexual orientation and also gender identity.

So proud to be a citizen of the Hawkeye state with it's new progressive leadership!

3. A Federal recognition of my inalienable rights
would be a step in the right direction for this civil rights movement.
