What Obama actually said re: New Deal policies

"We don't want to be looking backwards. We can't just go back to the New Deal and try to grab all the same policies of the 1930s and think somehow they'd work in the 21st century"

He said ALL the same policies. And he's right, we can't expect all of them to work in the 21st century. Things are different nowadays: different economy, different demographics, larger population, etc.

And he said we can't JUST go back to the New Deal, which is true. We need new ideas, because just using old ideas won't work.
