Recently, Obama braved the Repugs...
Edited on Wed Feb-03-10 03:10 PM by berni_mccoy
And he crushed them.

Today Obama braved the Senate Dems. And he shut down the DLCers. He gave a righteous smackdown of RW talking points from the DLC there including Bayh's b.s. on spending. He also told the Senate Dems to get their freakin act together and pass meaningful HCR.

Up next: I'm guessing he will face the Dem Caucus as a whole (including progressives).

This is the kind of leadership that gets stuff done. He's speaking softly. And smashing heads with the big ass stick o' truth.

1. Ain't it grand?!
I wonder how many people will still consider him to be a "Blue Dog" or a hardcore DLCer after today. He is REALLY on his game right now. Kicking butts and taking names! His smackdowns of Lincoln and Bayh alone were worth the price of admission. I would love to see these Q & A sessions made available on DVD at some point- to maintain for the sake of posterity.

GOBAMA!!!! :headbang:

5. Some of which he can't do without the help of Congress
So far Congress has been an abysmal failure this past year. Here's hoping this year will be more constructive.

7. Is he not carrying through the best that he can, given a do-nothing Senate?

8. I think my response to that would generate a very long debate.
Starting with the fact that the "Do-Nothing Senate" is partly the creature of Rahm Emanuel, who knocked more liberal candidates out of the running in favor of blue mutts, and whom Obama picked as Chief of Staff. Obama has a great deal of executive power as well, which he has not particularly exercised in support of progressive policy.

9. For years I have appreciated your perspective on these issues
I am glad you are thinking things are getting done.

I have made no secret of the fact I LOVE this president, and thank you for pointing out what he does right. I think it is important.

form the irrational party of no who caused this mess- to the party of alternative idea we want to work with.

And all indications are that the administration will get its wish- there look to be a LOT more of them to work with next year!

Heck of job.
